Posted June 20Jun 20 With all the World Cup stuff going on in America my YouTube short feed has been flooded with videos of people visiting the United States and being shocked by our culture and stores and food. There has been tons of positive videos of them complimenting how beautiful our country is and how lucky we are to live here. There has been a so much positivity and it's been really nice to see. A lot of them have said they felt like they have been lied to about our country... Maybe it's just me but I have been really enjoying it 🤷
June 20Jun 20 Yeah nice to see things like that. Most people don’t hate America. They hate Trump and what he has done to it. However, they are losing their patience and lots of steps have already been taken to create distance with America and lower reliance.
June 20Jun 20 The Scots have been a blast to host. Good group of fans. The videos out of Mexico City have been awesome too. South Koreans seem like they're having the time of their lives.
June 20Jun 20 Author Yeah it's just been really pleasant to see. Most are blown away by the size of our country. There's been a lot of videos of them trying fast food and having their minds blown hopefully they venture out to some local non-chain restaurants and try small family owned places and get to see how good the food can actually be... Sounds like most of the visitors have been really respectful... Boston has had a blast with the Scots... The Japanese cleaned up the stadium after the game... Koreans are loving it... It's been great to see.

June 21Jun 21 Norway is staying in Greensboro, NC (maybe with Zuker?) and I thought it was fun to see those guys at the Stanley Cup Finals
June 21Jun 21 USA. A Mexican restaurant. We had not yet ordered anything, and the food was already arriving.Chips. Salsa. Unrequested. Free.I stopped the waiter. "We have not earned these.""They just come with the table, man."They come with the TABLE. In my land, hospitality is a debt. Every gift creates an obligation, weighed carefully, returned in the proper season with interest of feeling. Here, the gift arrives before you have even proven you can pay for dinner. This is not an appetizer. This is a declaration: we trust you. Eat.I ate with the gravity the moment deserved. And then — I must report this calmly — the basket emptied, and a new one appeared."Did we…?""Refill," the waiter said. "It's bottomless."Bottomless. They have wells of salsa. The supply lines of this nation are beyond anything my ancestors imagined. My friend warned me. "Don't fill up on chips, dude."Too late. I had accepted three baskets. Honor demanded each one be finished — an unfinished gift is an insult. By the time my actual food arrived, I was a ruined man.I was not hungry. I was not comfortable. I had been defeated by a courtesy.Generosity that arrives before the request cannot be repaid. It can only be survived.I know the rule now. I have made my peace with the basket. One basket. Two at the most.Who am I deceiving. There is no number of baskets I would refuse. The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it.
