So many are SHOCKED at American hospitality. They say their media constantly told them we're rude and they'll be unsafe.

They've been blown away by us being kind, friendly, buying them drinks, wearing their country's jerseys and scarves, celebrating with them. They are surprised by customer service in stores and restaurants. The world view of Americans will change from this.

Walmart, Target, Costco, The Container Store. Lol

Thanks for sharing NOTW... I'm not a soccer fan by any means but all of this has been awesome to see

100%. I’ve been loving these in this thread and the non political pics thread.

Nice thread.

Hear hear 👏

THIS is the America I've known and loved for over 30 years.

Travelled all over the country and this is what its like.

People are genuinely interested in getting to know you and are welcoming.

Shame politics and the news we get fed can muddy perceptions.

@NOTW , keep posting these mate 👍

Yeah man, thanks @NOTW

The "FIFA 15”.

The "FIFA 15lbs" refers to a popular viral meme coined during the international football tournament. It plays on the "freshman 15" college weight gain, instead describing international fans visiting the US who pack on extra pounds due to stadium junk food, giant sodas, and American portion sizes

Was going through this thread at breakfast and my sister in law joke about how I was still playing the World Cup videos.

"This is the opposite of doomscrolling”

I love the videos and good world cup vibes. But I will say some of them are reminiscent of that annoying friend we all had in highschool/college who spent time abroad and couldn't shut tf about it to try and sound cool and cultured lol. "Oh my god the food is amazing". Half of y'all are a stones throw from Italy, you should not be blowing a load over Bucees. C'mon now.

True but their food and portions are radically different from ours... Imagine being the age you are now and biting into a burger or sinking your teeth into a huge BBQ rib for the first time... In the words of the Brits OH MY DAYS... We here as Americans don't consider fast food good because it's literally everywhere and real food is better we take it for granted.

I love burgers and trying new places I've never been to a whataburger I'd like to try it... When I was in Vegas years ago I got to try in and out as well as shakeshack... For the price I thought in and out was better... I know I'm going to get flamed for this but I love steak and shake... I prefer big juicy burgers over smash burgers but man I love the burgers from steak and shake... Those crispy edges 🤯

I love fast food, but I would never tell a tourist to go to (insert fast food place) for the best burger. And I’m still cracking up that someone told that French guy to get a cheesesteak at Wawa

Agreed... Fast food burgers are good when you don't have a lot of time or feel like making anything but yeah non chain places are just way better...

While I agree that our portions are larger, we also eat a lot more processed food. That’s not really a good combination.

I hate Longhorns I haven't been to one in years... Every time I went the sides were awful and the service was worse but the steaks were always good.

It’s a little overdone, yes….

But my take away is

"Holy s, we love this food/store/overallculture”

and

"Holy s, Americans are nice, good people”

The last one sticks with me just because of my few experiences over in Europe. Either it was a limey just MFing us for no reason on a water bus in Venice (wasn’t directed at us, they didn’t know we were American, just having a conversation amongst themselves) or just being told how my being nice breaks an American stereotype, it just felt like we are viewed like dogs to them. So seeing them being welcomed, enjoying there time here, and expressing genuine love is so heartwarming.

But what I am curious to see….

Some fans here that are from the group round that stick to the end and get to see multiple cities/states…. Do they pick up on our own different regional cultures?
