Cornell University Case

Featured Replies

A very uncomfortable case going on. I feel like we, as adults, can have a civilized discussion and share opinions.

What fun will it be without serial frat rape apologist TEW?

What we know about the Cornell University frat house rape...

The woman alleges she was drugged and raped at a fraternity house at the university two years ago.

Sounds like she regretted the incident after the fact.

I think this is going to be another major social wedge case. Don't know what the truth is. And I'm not saying that the texts she sent between that night and when she ultimately went to the police, and the testimony from her friends, prove that her accusation isn't true. BUT, it's certainly not a good look for her, and the defense will certainly be able to use that evidence in their defense.

Apparently another big sticking point is that she voluntarily did some drugs (I believe Ketamine) before this went down and there's a law in NY that involves voluntary intoxication not being grounds for inability to consent. The factual details are kinda hard to figure out on that though because the reporting is so hyped up here. I can't imagine if someone is fully unconscious of their own doing you can just go to town legally. But I guess that's one of the big reasons why the initial case didn't go anywhere at the University.

My niece goes to Cornell. Just glad it wasn’t her.

Think it’s best to let all the facts come out before just screaming guilty or innocent.

Your nuance and reason is getting in the way of my pitch fork!

One thing I think we can all agree on.... Biden's liberal policies did this

Which texts exactly? I'm trying to catch up on this one.

a couple days after that night, Jonathan Newell, who was one of the 2 men that she initially agreed to have a 3some with, texted her to apologize for how things went down and that it had gotten out of hand. And that he and Matthew Ingalls (the other 3some participant) felt terribly that they didn't shut it down and kick people out before it got out of hand. She responded back that "none of the sexual stuff was illegal" and that she "really liked being with u and matt". She then said they should get together to smoke again, but without the other men and without the ketamine.

Then a few days later, in talking about rumors about that night she said her rep was destroyed and she felt ashamed, but also that attitudes towards sexuality are changing and that situations like that would become more common, and ended with "I love u king" to Ingalls.

She was then planning to go to the halloween party at the frat later that week. Ingalls said "chi phi is your house and you are welcome here". She responded "thank u i really appreciate that". But then the frat president dis-invited her from the party. He called her and told he she wasn't invited and that it was for her own good. She then texted Ingalls "I knew this was going to happen. The woman will always get the short end of the stick. Ya'll aren't my friends. Yall are covering your asses".

Then a few days after the halloween party, she texted Newell saying "let's be clear that 90% of what happened that night was not consensual. I was given more key than I can remember" "I know that i told u i felt uncomfortable and i didn't know anyone in the room."

So the defense will certainly use these messages to paint a picture of a woman who voluntarily participated in conceptual group sex, and only changed her mind and claimed she was raped after she realized she was no longer welcome at the frat and started to get a reputation of being a ****.

There's also discrepancies between her sworn police statement in 2024 as compared to her claims in the civil suit.

In her police statement, she said she agreed to the initial threesome with Newell and Ingalls. She also stated that during this 3some, it was the men who were the impaired ones. Saying one of them passed out and the other almost threw up. In the 2026 civil suit, she says she was already significantly intoxicated when she arrived at the party and the two men exploited her impaired condition.

In her police statement, she described voluntarily taking ketamine at certain points of the night. In the civil suit, she says she was pushed to take it until she became completely incapacitated.

In the police statement, she remembers decisions, conversations, consenting to some things, refusing others and eventually reaching a level of the most intoxication she's ever felt. In the civil suit she claims she was completely incapacitated.

In the police statement she describes the night as successive sexual encounters with different combinations of men. In the civil suit, she says it was a gang rape.

In the police statement, she describes refusing certain sex acts and the men listening (such as saying no when someone offered to make it a 4some).

In summary, in the police statement, she does say she was raped. But she describes the night in a much more progressive manner of starting off the night voluntarily agreeing to a 3some, voluntarily doing drugs, remembering conversations, remembering consenting to some sex acts and refusing others, but then ultimately being too intoxicated by the end of the night to make decisions and being coerced into having sex with other men. Whereas in the civil claim, she's much more explicitly claiming that this was a gang rape and that even at the start of the party, she was inebriated and taken advantage of.
