He’s the head coach. He has every ability to override the decision. You can blame Mannion as well, but it was a dumb play.

4th & 1 qb has to be under center. Running that play in the shotgun the rb gets the ball 4 yards behind the line and he is flat footed. Under center the rb is moving forward and much closer to the line. Lousy coaching

If you have to make it to a yard marker you need to make the yard marker not the close or far side of the yard marker.
