1. It hurt field position. If it’s just an incomplete, chance they go for the TD on fourth. Losing the yards prevented that option.

People forget that Wentz suffered a pretty bad concussion on a brutally dirty hit the last time he played well. That can mess with a guy’s career for a number of reasons.

And people got on me for saying it was a stupid plan to go into a season with a injury prone desean, 3 rookies, a bum in JJAW and Greg ward. Had the discussion in the blog the other day. They are a bottom 5-7 WR corps when you actually look around the league at other teams.

I don't intend to try to reason with you - but just in case anyone out there is thinking this, just watch the play again. 

Wentz sees that Ertz isn't open. Then he sees that no one else is open. It's third down, so he tries to make a play with his legs. When he sees that isn't going to work, he steps back and sees that he's about to get hit. At that point, he's likely to hit before he's able to throw the ball away, so if he tries it's likely to be a fumble. Tucking the ball away and taking a short sack was the right move at that point. 

One more example of TATErs sucking much worse than Wentz ever will.
