Recently we activated Fulgham and he burst on to the scene with a 2-game performance worthy of a starting role. This is the ripple effect playing out. If we were allowed 80 players on our roster, I'm sure teams would still miss trying to develop that 81st player. Regarding the DL, it may be deep now but Curry is likely gone after this season, Graham may very well be too considering our cap situation. Barnett still hasn’t proven to be a difference maker and I believe is also in the final year of his current contract. DL is another group where we need young talent to begin grooming. Avery isn’t a starting DE - he is a situational (role) player. Sweat looks to be a pretty good piece I just worry about his knee holding up through the rigors of a full season playing the number of snaps a starter would. We need some young blood in the pipeline there.

Toohill showed enough promise to make the team over Miller, but we aren't going to hold on to every young player for a "maybe some day..." when we currently have 5 guys that can play the position better than him. In other words, it's not like we exposed some great contributor in a careless move. We exposed a guy we would have liked to keep developing, I'm sure, but that we can live without. With Barnett and Sweat, we have some youth moving forward. I'm sure we will add more along the way. Heck we may even get Toohill back in a few weeks after Washington waves him.

Everything you said describes JJAW. Holding on for someday, 5 guys who play the position better than him.

I count 1 so far. I count the same, 1. Plus 7 others who have/would play over JJAW (Reagor/Hightower/Watkins/Ward/Jackson/Jeffery/Burnett). So that's 8 WRs ahead of JJAW to 4-5 DE's above Toohill. JJAW is a mathematical impossibility. He's 9th on the WR depth chart when we don't even have 9 WRs.

I would only have Jeffery, Jackson, Reagor, Fulgham and Ward ahead of JJAW with Hightower and Watkins even at best to this point. Now there is clearly an issue with the number of WRs we have on the active roster. We can't afford to keep it at 8 (when Reagor returns) to protect everyone. So ... barring a trade, someone will have to go unless there's a new injury or two. While you're certainly entitled to your opinion, there aren't any numbers to suggest Watkins, Hightower, or Burnett are a better option than JJAW at this time. Reagor was drafted to play Z, but the injury to Jeffery gave him a path to more playing time at X. Hightower has filled in for Jackson at Z, while JJAW spent most of camp working at X. The injury to JJAW gave Fulgham a chance to steal X away from Jeffery and JJAW. Last year, JJAW was trained for all 3 WR spots. So as far as depth is concerned, he's the most versatile of the young backups to date.

October 16, 20204 yr Author Slay returned to practice yesterday on a limited basis. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/10/15/darius-slay-returns-for-limited-practice/ Also limited were DJax, Jeffery, Maddox, and Rodgers. Returning to practice after missing Wednesday with various injuries/ailments: Cox, Ridgeway, Wallace, Bradley, and Brown. All were full participants. The only player listed as out was Johnson.

JJAW has shown next to nothing. Good thing the Chiefs didn"t give up on Mahomes after he showed next to nothing as a rookie. You act like the coaches are only seeing stats after the game. They watch film. They study the routes, the reads, and they break down what a player is doing and it's effect on the play even if it's away from the ball. They see these guys in practice every day and they know which players are "more ready" now. It will never be about giving a guy a chance to show what he can do. There are millions of guys out there that want that chance and won't get it. It's about doing what is asked, working hard in practice and then taking advantage of your playing time. You aren't just gifted playing time.

Mahomes only played in 1 game for KC his rookie year for 35 total pass attempts. He started every game for them the following year and led them to a 12-4 record, throwing for 50 TDs and a passer rating of 113.8. So far in his 2nd season JJAW hasn't shown any more than he did his rookie year, which was next to nothing. It's a shame that it appears we missed on yet another high pick.

From last year, a udfa street TE, Perkins, and Jordan Matthews were targetted over JJAW. There is a clear pattern of them using ANYONE over him. That already includes Hightower and Burnett. Watkins, admittedly, is an assumption, but their usage of Jordan Matthews/Perkins makes it reasonable to assume that Watkins too will be used over JJAW. So 9th on the WR depth chart seems about right, MAYBE 8th. Maybe 10th if you include whoever else is out there on the street they'd sign and play over him right now if injuries dictated it. Yet he's on the roster.

Now the bar is set to "balling?" Performed better than JJAW this year: Reagor, Jackson, Ward, Fulgham, Burnett, Hightower. JJAW has 1 catch, he's a 2nd year player being outperformed by guys just joining the team off the practice squad and rookies.
October 16, 20204 yr Jeffrey and Jackson out again...but the depth chart Lane Johnson, Pryor, Maddox out.

October 16, 20204 yr Glad Jeffery and Jackson are out. This is a tough matchup against the Ravens secondary so I’ve been hoping to see how Fulgham does against them. This also is another example of horrific handling of injury management by the Eagles though. Jackson should have gone on short term IR considering he STILL isn’t back. Jeffery should have been on the PUP.

Playing QB as a rookie is, I'm sure, much much more different and also much much harder.

They need someone from a well-run organization ready to step up to come here and overhaul how they do things.

Absolutely my friend. I have zero interest in seeing Alshon and Desean in an Eagles jersey again. I mean honestly what's the point?
October 16, 20204 yr JJAW won't ever get a fair shot to prove himself with Wentz at QB. Sorry, but Wentz just doesn't trust WRs that don't get massive amounts of separation. It was the reason that Alshon got peeved about not getting the ball, because he's a 50/50 jump ball guy and Wentz will not take chances. JJAW is that same type of player that won't get "open" so Wentz won't throw it to him. The stuff we are seeing with Fulgham has been amazing, but once Ertz starts getting open, that will most likely stop. I hope I'm wrong, as Fulgham looks like a legit talent.
