Weekly line thread: Eagles -3 at Giants

The Eagles return from the bye week with a trip up the Turnpike to The Meadowlands (I'm old school).

Eagles - 3
Total: 44

Giants are 2-7 SU after their over Washington yesterday but 6-3 ATS.

The Eagles should be as close to healthy as we've seen them all year so the line feels about right. I haven't looked at the forecast but if the weather holds the total seems low.

It's an NFC East battle so it will be close no matter how bad both teams are.  Can the Eagles win or will the Giants move to .5 a game out of first?  Time will tell.

100% and its amazing how some of our "fans" forget this.

Yep no way I’d touch this one.

I feel a lot better about this one than the previous one because we've had so many guys return since that game. It would be even nicer if Seumalo is good to go on Sunday.

That’s the problem though, usually feeling good about Eagles chances going into a game means the exact opposite happens

Yeah I'm not betting a nickel on the NFL any more, I watched the Panthers put the fear of god up the Chiefs and Dallas almost pull it out against the Steelers.

On paper we should beat the Giants, who needed a rusty Alex Smith performance to clamber past Washington, but we don't play the game on paper.

We always begin buying the hype surrounding teams. The Steelers and Chiefs are good teams having good seasons so far, but they are far from unbeatable. I always say (and stand by it) that the best teams each year are only a little better than the rest of the teams. We just saw the leading MVP candidate turn the ball over 4 times --- something people say Wentz should have been benched for. Every player and team is capable of having good and bad games.

The NFL season is a grind.......with ups and down for each team.  Most fans and media have thrown in the towel on the eagles.  Some teams get off to great starts, only to struggle down the stretch.  Other teams do the opposite.

The eagles have had way too many injuries to be anything more than 3-4-1.......and that led to the other big problem of Wentz thinking he can win games on his own.

As the eagles get healthier, and hopefully, staying healthy, we'll get to see just how good they can be......they have a tough stretch with Cleveland, Seattle, Green Bay, New Orleans and Arizona coming up after the Giants.  And the Giants won't be a pushover.

Not going to make a prediction...they have to concentrate the season one game at a time, starting by beating the giants.  Wentz has to get his head straight, the defense needs to step up and create opportunities, and Pedersen needs to take his head out of his a-- and start calling solid games.

But Wentz is the biggest factor. They will go as Wentz goes.....if he can get the offense playing consistently, control the ball, and put up some points, it would take a load of pressure off the defense.   But we haven't seen that all year, so it's hard to imagine it happening all of a sudden.

Hopefully, getting Sanders, Reagor, Johnson, Seumalo, Goedart and Jefrrey back all together may help Wentz get a little more confident.

Think Washington had 4 or 5 turnovers and only lost by 3 to NYG.

If the Eagles can not turn it over then........oh forget it, nevermind.

Easy money taking the eagles -3, sure its a division game but the eagles have been building confidence especially after nearly beating the ravens, and of course getting key players back will be a huge boost

But then again they played terrible vs Dallas and still won by 2 TDs.  People were acting like we lost it was so disappointing.  Maybe Dallas is just playing a little better defensively.  They did give Pittsburgh a tough time too.

I love what you’re saying but even healthy i think there are some issue(s):

Wentz decision making

ertz attitude and performance (pre injury of course).  Ertz is a respected eagle in the locker room and him being tuned out hurts the locker room. So maybe its better he is out right now. We should remember that ertz was a key to much of the eAgles and wentz’s success in the past

lack of talent to compete with the top teams in the league (when all things are equal injury wise, there are several teams in the league the eagles are not up to par with)

But like you said....  the season is a grind.  Star players go down and star players emerge throughout the season for every team.  Which gives a team like the eagles a punchers chance

They won this past week.

I think it'll be another tough game. They played us tough just a couple of weeks ago, I think we will show early rust and I think they'll be on a high after their win.

Giants only win against football team. Questionable if the eagles meet that criteria

I truly don't think they have a lack of talent......except at the LB position.

I think the major issues are Wentz getting his dam head straight and Pedersen taking his head out of his a-- with the playcalling.

Talent alone doesn't win championships.  They proved that when they won the super bowl.  The eagles have some good, emerging skill players and the offensive line is getting healthier.  Defensively, Edwards coming back helps, but the defense as a whole is capable of playing better.

And I think the offensive troubles have put the defense in bad situations and they simply haven't made crucial plays.

Nothing else matters until Wentz can get his head on straight......he has blown 2-3 games for them and that simply can't continue.  The other big question is whether or not Pedersen will sacrifice the season by continuing to play Wentz if he doesn't improve.  They're not going anywhere by turning the ball over 2-3 times a game and taking unnecessary sacks, among other things.
