Coach Doug Pederson is expected to return to the Philadelphia Eagles next season, though he does have a meeting scheduled for Tuesday with owner Jeffrey Lurie to discuss plans for the 2021 season, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter on Saturday.

There will be changes in Pederson's coaching staff, sources told ESPN. Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is on an expiring contact and is not expected to return, sources said.

So Doug coming back, Howie very likely coming back.

That means they have to move on from Wentz. I've just got to believe that they are going to trade him if they are sticking with Doug.

Considering Doug's comments at his last press conference, I don't think Wentz is going anywhere. I think Lurie will give the trio of Howie/Doug/Wentz one more year to get it together before he cleans house and sends all three packing.

Going to be a very dull 2021 season. More of the same.

Yeah, not sure how they can keep Doug and Wentz. Probably keeping Howie too....Lurie really is an idiot sometimes.

Yes but how many additional offensive coaches will they add?

Not so fast. It’s very likely that all of them will be back.

They need at least 15 more!

What a mess. So apparently this ish show is acceptable. And apparently we have to suffer another doug and Carson year when it's quite clear they aren't compatible.

Yeah, many of the overpaid vets will be gone but with a healthy line maybe they can win 5-6 games.

F Howie and the mess that he created. God help us if we have to suffer more of the same as 2020 with the same Management.

The only way I see this not being another dumpster fire clusterF ish show is if Lurie/Howie forced the O coaching changes and OC by committee on Doug and he convinced them that they were wrong about interfering and to let him pick his own staff and Doug understands he needs to find ONE good competent OC who is good at play design and will keep Doug honest in terms of more of a balance between the pass/run game.  And a QB coach who will be tough on the QBs because they don't need a friend they need a GD friggin COACH to stay on their asses.

It’s time to check another box.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson will return to the team in 2021, according to multiple reports.

Why wouldn’t he? Crazed Eagles fans and over-the-top bitter Philly media notwithstanding, Pederson won a Super Bowl trophy in 2017 and took the team to the playoffs in 2018 and 2019. Yes, 2020 went sideways for the team. Surely, that’s not enough to run off a head coach who has shown he knows how to win.

According to ESPN, Pederson is due to meet with owner Jeffrey Lurie on Tuesday to discuss plans for the 2021 season.

The plans will include, at a minimum, hiring a new defensive coordinator. Jim Schwartz reportedly won’t return.

And regardless of whether Lurie says it, the mandate for next year will be to return to the postseason. Lurie fired both Andy Reid and Chip Kelly after two straight non-playoff years.

I hope the plans also include hiring a new offensive coordinator (and getting rid of this offense by committee thing they have going on) that mandates Doug focus on managing the team from a higher perspective and giving up control of the offense.

From the moment they went with the coaches by committee setting I thought it was a bad idea. Far too many cooks in the kitchen and a bunch of guys that were thrust upon Doug he can’t trust and he couldn’t get any real connection with due to Covid. At least all the teams in the division with new coaches were hired by their new head coach, but Doug had this coaching staff basically forced on him and that includes Schwartz. They don’t want Doug to have any say in PP decisions that’s fine, but to hijack and control his coaching staff was a mistake.

And based on Doug’s comments, sounds like they plan on Wentz being back too. Great. See ya in 2022 I guess.

There’ll be a lot of horses in the stable considering this pandemic! We want to be the very first team w/offensive coaches as practice-squaders 😂

Yup.

And a serious OC will be hired, whether DP likes it or not.

No more of this committee BS.

And we will get a DC from outside the organization too.

My only hope is that they at least make Wentz EARN the starting job.

Hope Wentz get traded for a 2nd round pick, he does not have what it takes to win the Superbowl, well not here anyway..

I don’t disagree but listening to Doug’s comments, it sure sounds like they intend to go back to Wentz next season. Of course, he also said all his coaches would be back last offseason and we saw what happened...

I just don’t see Wentz and Doug working out together. It’s not a coincidence that Doug’s win percentage is much higher with QBs other than Wentz.

Yeah, I call a bluff here, imo they will trade Wentz if he is tradable.

Doug also said mike groh was coming back and that he needs to run the ball more.  He lies.  Don’t believe a word he says.   He can’t come out and say they are moving on because 1) he’s not the gm so that’s not his job and he’s always said he coaches the players that are here so he pins that stuff on Howie and 2) if he says it now publicly, he hurts the trade value.  They have to finish up the season, paint this picture of rebuilding carson and the offense, spend the next few months finding suitors and then selling them on how great he’s looked in OTAs and such.  Any more negative press on him or "we plan want to move on” commentary will just lower his value.

I thought he had a meeting with Lurie on Tuesday. I wouldn’t say that Doug is for sure coming back. I’m guessing it depends on what ideas/solutions Doug discusses with Lurie. If Lurie isn’t satisfied, Doug may get his walking papers.

I seriously can’t take another season at the bottom of the NFC East.

He meets with him at the end of every season.  This isn’t some special meeting of the guild.  And I wouldn’t be surprised if he was fired before that meeting happens.  It’s not likely, but could happen.
