I expect Duce Staley to be a candidate. Knows our values, great representative. There it is then. That's the move. May as well try and dress it up like the move the organization wants to make. Because tomorrow morning Lurie is very likely going to find out that this is not an attractive job for the best young coaches.

In several million years, the sun will consume its fuel source, expand and consume all the inner planets, and yet Howie will still somehow survive.

Lurie: I will lead the search, always do. Team will help: Howie, Don Smolenski, multiple people. Relationships with different people to get info on candidates. Characteristics: rather not specify, needs to be a leader of coaches and leader of players. We had a lot of that with Doug. Leadership is important. You can hire offensive coaches, or defensive coaches with good coaching on the offensive side. But you have to have an elite offense. But HC background doesn't matter. At least he didn’t mention "emotional intelligence”
January 11, 20214 yr No matter how it’s asked the bottom line is Roseman isn’t going anywhere nor is he losing his power.

January 11, 20214 yr Question: Fans are passionate, fans think biggest problem is Howie and talent evaluation. How do you feel? No Pro Bowl picks in 7 years. Changes coming in talent evaluation? Lurie: gotta look at every aspect of drafting. short term decisions, or if you have a veteran team, if you're picking lower in the rounds. In the last 20 years we've had a lot of success, cited playoff appearances and NFCCG (most were under Reid so...) Complex, data driven analysis, I will match our performance against any team because we have really good talent on the roster. when you have a veteran roster, you're going to have less draft picks getting playing time. We will have real success as we retool...

Doug was a leader. You just fired a leader in favour of keeping your crappy son as GM and because you don't want to see $34M go down the toilet.

Book it. he is the hottest name out there...why would he come to a trainwreck franchise..where 1. the HC can't pick his assistants, 2. The HC get's undermined by the owner (Groh and Walch) 3. Where the Owner sides with the prima donna QB over the HC 4. Where the GM thinks he knows more than guys who have been in the trenches
January 11, 20214 yr Question: have you been able to work on other coaches this week, and how to compare to other open HC jobs. Reporter threw in potential clashes with the front office. Lurie: we give great resources, history of making the playoffs and division titles vs other teams that are one and done or don't make playoffs consistenly. Cap problems are a 1 year problem, you can transition away from a cap problem in about 12 months. QB position: we have 2 good assets, both young and hungry and great people. New coach will have options, potential star in Carson and Jalen. Gives us an asset if we make a decision someday.

Isn't it the job of the GM to balance short term and long term? Are we supposed to wait 5+ years with every player because they may possibly be another BG? What utter horse ish. You know what... Howie is the biggest issue but it turns out our owner is right there as the next biggest. He thinks we as fans are dumb and that we will eat this crap up.

He talks every year about needing to get younger and not making decisions based on sentimentality. Then he drafts like a chump and has no choice. He says that’s because he has a chubby for a 5th rounder that he over reaches in in the 2nd. He’s never said they sold their future in 2017 to the degree that jeff just did.

He was asked very clear questions about the ish job Howie has done and his answers were nothing short of a joke.

January 11, 20214 yr Question: have you been evaluating potential HC candidates. Lurie: I'm always watching other teams and evaluating to see what's out there, learn new schemes, ongoing research no matter what. Always be prepared to lose a coach...did'nt know we were going to lose Frank Reich but set things in motion to replace. A lot of good candidates out there, we'll think both inside and outside the box. No rush, very important decision. This idea to rush is odd in the NFL, can't run a business like that. Have to do what's best. If you're the last to hire then good, then you don't need to rush because all the other positions are filled so you can take your time.
