The way he said: you all don't know what happened and maybe I'll someday write a book about it sure gives me confidence.

And I don't even think we are as bad as you all make us out to be.

Im sorry...but what the heck are you talking about?

It was a total mess dude. The only person we absolutely know will be here is Howie Roseman.

Even if we do somehow manage to turn this al around for next season, I have zero enthusiasm / optimism for it. With this PC Lurie has basically sucked it all away and told us to expect to be the browns (pre 2020) for next season.

You got problems paying attention?

Need to get rid of Howie too. But thank god Doug is gone.  The past 3 years have been painful to watch. An offensive embarrassment.

Maybe Eagles football can be fun again.

Not for a long long time.

Well apparently our owner agrees with you. Which is just complete nonsense.

How are you not? Didn't you all want a rebuild over 2-5 years? That's what he wants, and that's what he says got Pederson fired.

Pederson wasn’t going to rebuild the team.  That’s the GM’s job ... which is Howie.  With his track record, you feel good about him doing the rebuilding???

Good news is the board seemed to handle it well. Though the real test would have been a Howie firing lol

That was the first thing I checked when I saw the email from the Eagles telling me that Doug was gone. This has been pretty much like a gameday, traffic wise.

People just love to be mad for no reason. Lurie did make excuses for Howie which is annoying as hell. Other than that though he gave an honest look at where the team has been in recent years, and where it's going. If you add two and two together it's quite obvious why Doug was fired. The basic summary of his PC was that they pushed for short term moves at the expense of the long term to try to win another SB. At this point they realize that has them in a bad spot and they have to rebuild or at the very least re-tool. Doug was obviously more interested in continuing on the same path and trying to be a winner right now. You also have the reported coaching hires that Doug wanted which would have been a mess. I am going to wait and see what happens from here before jumping off of a cliff. If they hire Kafka or Duce, ok I am right there with everyone. If they bring in a sharp offensive mind like Riley, Brady, or Daboll then I have some optimism. We all know the organization is in a bad place and the optics of firing Doug a week later isn't good. The more information that comes out though the better the decision looks and it's not like Doug was setting the world on fire since the SB either.

I don’t know what the owner thinks. He was all over the place. The only thing that was clear was Howie is his dude.

I'm just finishing the press conference now.  What a complete embarrassment this is from Lurie.  Absolutely terrifying how in love is with Roseman to the point where he isn't at all capable of saying anything negative about him, in fact he can't say anything about him that isn't overwhelmingly positive.

It was practically the same way Doug gushed over Groh and Walch a year ago.  Too bad there isn’t someone above to step in and override Lurie’s decision here.

Ok..whatever..piss off

No rush on a coach. 6th to 7th option.

Was always going to be the 6th or 7th option when the most important characteristic they are looking for is a willingness to be a yes man to Roseman.  Just like Doug had before he got sick of it.

Yep! Complete mess. He turned up late and came with no answers.

seems like a Trump-Putin thing going on here.. YES I did have to go there!

That presser was a travesty of reason. Jeffrey Lurie is 100% full of SH**. As a fan, I am insulted by that B.S. Howie is happy though since he's Grrrrrrreat!!!

I don't think he did that bad, that's what I said all along.

Besides Lurie is right: None of you have actually evaluated all the picks, of plenty of franchises. Nor been there in it all the way. He made it clear he took a long hard look at it, and if this would have been a bad performance overall he would indeed fire him. I believe him.

I agree. People saying Urban Meyer. Yeah right. There’s no chance anyone walks into here wanting to be controlled by Howie.

One thing i heard is that they have been thinking short term since 2016...makes me wonder if the Doug hire was a short time hire to take the existing team and win some championships.

As far as I'm concerned both Howie and Lurie can do one. I'm so offended by the crap our owner has just spouted. He was asked very clear questions about the ish job Howie has done and his answers were nothing short of a joke.

Oh I agree - I think Howie is as much to blame as doug. And Howies failures have far more impact on the future obviously.  He’s basically giving Howie a pass by saying that they mortgaged 2019 and beyond by trying to short sight a back to back situation.  We all know it but he’s finally admitting that and it was honest.  That doesn’t mean he shouldn’t fire Howie in my mind, but it allows him to hang onto him and makes it "excusable” at least in his own mind.

isn't he married? :-)

I don’t see how anyone could have heard that mess and be happy about it. We have no real reason to fire our coach other than he wants to win now while we are trying to build. Oh by the way we are trying to build with a guy who can’t draft.

Coach killer Wentz is out of excuses next year its put up or shut up.

Dear Mrs. Lurie,

Please tell your husband to pull his head out of his ass and fire Roseman!

Sincerely,

Pretty much everyone

There may be a lot of variables and we may not have analysed our picks vs other teams in the same way, but what we can analyse is the roster that has been constructed and the calibur of players on it, and it doesn’t look too great from that perspective.
