Doubtful, they asked Doug just a few days ago about wanting more say and he said no he just wants to coach and has maintained that statement his entire time here.

Whatever was said in that meeting Lurie didn’t like it, but his responses make one thing clear. The Eagles and Doug had a difference in direction on how the team should go, and Howie is perfect just the way he is. No one but Howie has been put into a protected state.

Who’d be your top candidate Don? I really want Daboll.

I haven't really looked at who is out there, but Daboll is a good candidate IMO. Nice call by you.

Wentz wants to stay? You sure about that? From that presser I’m not even sure if either of the "assets” will be Eagles next year. Lurie also let it slip he wants more picks, and now picking Wentz hurt their draft capital. At 6 they might be in play for another quarterback for the factory.

It was reported, I think it was Rapoport? That now that DP is gone the chances of Wentz staying would be way better.

Well he wasn’t wrong. 😂

God I f'ing hate how he sucked with Wentz, and then all of a sudden showed effort for Hurts. I liked the way Hurts plays, but that was some real BS right there too.

Wow JJAW is that much better the DK in your eyes?

Huh?

I was pointing out Howie's idiotic evaluations.  Two picks that could have cured all the ills of the Eagles.  TATErs nailed these two picks 95+%.  Yet Howie tried to prove he was smarter than the rest of the league.  Yet Howie stays and Doug goes?!?!?!?!?

How can Doug makes Howie's lemon picks into lemonaide, all while the FO tells him who to fire and who to hire. Doug deserves better than that and I hope he finds it.

I like Doug and he will always have a special place in Philadelphia sports history being the HC that brought the Eagles their first SB but I’m okay with moving on. The O was getting stale, players weren’t developing, questionable play calling and the whole Wentz thing. The problem I have (like many) is Howie still being here, this thing needed to be blown up, plain and simple.

Well with Lurie saying he is looking for a leader of coaches my guess would be Doug once again didn't want to move on from any of the coaches that were terrible. Press Taylor comes to mind

Agreed. I think Bienemy would be a huge mistake.

Guy has a future HoFer at QB and one of the most loaded offenses in the league. Of course he seems competent, how can you not?

Doug had Bienemy's job a few years ago. Andy controls that offense, end of story. I'm on the 'step away from the Andy tree' train for a bit, maybe too inbred to be healthy.

If they want to keep Wentz or Hurts, then that will probably be their plan. If they go outside, the outside coach might want to draft his own QB and it sounds like Lurie wants to try to resurrect Wentz's career.  So, they might hire the HC based on who will be willing to work with Wentz.

and is okay with tanking in 2021.

Yes.  Even better:  he said he told Jim Schwartz his defense in the Super Bowl:  Wow, that was not good!

Funny how he clearly called out Jeffery and Schwartz, but Howie! No way!

It does make us look slightly bad to fire a coach right off of three straight playoff appearances, one resulting in a SB win.

He turned Josh Allen around real quick. Their offense is fun to watch and I feel we could fill in the few offensive pieces they have that we don’t (Diggs and Beasley level WRs mainly). We have better RBs, oline (if healthy) and TE. They have better QB and WR.

Jeffrey Lurie's song to Howie:

Well you gotta throw the ball to a guy if you want him to catch it. With that being the case Jeffer was never really all that outstanding to begin with. For a guy his size you would think he’d be catching double digit touchdowns every year. Back to Wentz well Lurie had a chance to guarantee Wentz would be back twice. He never did and he referred to his franchise quarterback as an "asset.” Sure doesn’t sound like they can’t wait to have him back to me.

Allen had me thinking he might be a big old bust, then things turned around. Daboll got the Bills Offense on the right track, that's for sure. Fits what Jeffrey Lurie says he wants.

Makes the organization look stupid. Even fans of rivals etc are saying Lurie fired the wrong person.

They fired their last two coaches after one losing season. Not a good trend.

No, the reporter asked if our QB situation would be to our detriment in the coaching search. And he replied that the Eagles had two assets at QB. And then he hinted that the next coach could then decide whom he wants to rebuild the offense with and then the other would be worth something in a trade.

i don't think i would count kelly in that trend. with doug, its been going downhill for the last 3 yrs.

You saw the tweet that by Rapoport saying this came down to Doug not wanting to be told what to do right? If Howie’s controlling who he hires and fires I don’t blame him for wanting out. All this talk about how Doug is the dope for wanting his coaches, well he got all those other guys forced on him. Was that better last season?

Yeah that’s called no commitment to Carson.

Chip pretty clearly had problems with nearly everyone in the organization, players and staff at Nova Care. I don't think Doug was viewed as an egomaniacal a'hole like Chip.

Sure, he says he is not going to make this decision. It will be the next HC that makes it. And that is the right thing to say, isn't it?

I didn't call Doug a dope for it. Just seems they are not happy with Doug not holding coaches accountible or keeping guys they don't think is good enough.

Doesn't matter anyways

Honestly firing Doug is a big deal, but I’m not upset it happened. I’m very disappointed Howie is still here and that’s far more impactful to me. I don’t have a lot of confidence in the 6th pick right now.

Well said. Same. I hope for some miracle where Howie hits his head hard right before the draft, and defers to someone near him who nails it.

Chip won 10 games before he was dumped. Doug went to the playoffs twice and was dumped after having one less loss than Chip’s 10. Either way you slice it both had winning seasons the year before they were fired. The more you think about it, the less likely you will see some great coach coming to Philly.

Yeah agreed. He checks the boxes. I just want new blood. Bienemy is a clipboard holder on a team that has Mahomes, Kelce, Hill, etc. I don’t see him as some offensive guru. That’s Andy’s offense.
