Ever consider that the front office really likes Hurts and wanted to sure up the QB position  with a potential long term solution since our franchise QB gets banged up so much. Again, Wentz earns his next 100 million dollar contract it's water under the bridge. If he doesn't, well... Hurts it is for a stop gap and we move on.

I just watched Wentz break a record for throwing for 4000 yards with the receiver output that he had. We just invested a 1st round pick on a receiver in addition to bringing in an veteran. They drafted 3 total WRs and are bring some in some intriguing UDFAs in a draft that was loaded with WR talent. They invested in a good RB last year and OL. They invested in a QB that can take some abuse for him on short yardage. I wanted Mims just as bad as everyone but I don't have the direct information that the FO does on Wentz and his health.

27 with a 35 year old body that just got a major concussion. If he is so great he has no worries about a rookie taking his damn job. I don't see what the problem is.

Think about what it could have been not throwing to garbage cans on the outside. We could have had lamb if we gave up our 2nd to Atlanta. Are you going to tell me Lamb isnt worth Reagor and Hurts?

Because that wasted pick could have been used on someone that could make help him succeed even more. Another weapon to throw to or maybe a better defense so he doesnt have to get into shoot outs because the Secondary is swiss cheese.

besides, wentz could use some qb competition in practice.  It’s healthy and drives you that much more.

I like Lamb a lot, really do. But I am not even sure if I would want him over Reagor.

Yes... I like Lamb too. But Reagor was probably more of a need to stretch the field so why give up the 2nd pick. Let's not forget that they probably haven't given up on JJaw as well. Again we're not privy to the health information that the FO has so it's pretty clear to me that they have some concerns. And you're probably not just giving up a 2nd you're more than likely giving up multiple picks to move up to snag Lamb.

Think of the talent that was still at #53.

We still have a potential need at WR, Mims was there.

If you're not a Mims guy then ok no worries. We need help at CB, Fulton was there. 

Chinn? Espenesa? Hennessey? So many players available at positions we need now and for the future. 

In a year or two when we are looking for a replacement for Slay we will have to invest a premium pick. Hell we need a #2 to play opposite him right now and none of our current options are great. 

In a year with BG being another year older and a decision to be made on Barnett we will need an edge rusher... In a draft that apparently isn't a very good one for edge rushers.

And all of that assumes the draft runs as normal after a full college season. Could have addressed one of those issues though with #53.

I don't think that ever was a thing. I believe the guy they were talking about trading up for was Ruggs! When he was the first off the board, the next speedster is Reagor..

It's not a waste. He'll be a cheap back up (important). Contribute with some packages. And if Wentz earns his 2nd 100 million dollar contract they probably trade Hurts to get that pick back wash rinse repeat. This is a long term play. Chess move not checkers.

I'm with you. Lamb was more of my wish. Given how the draft played out they for sure probably wanted Ruggs so I agree.

I'm not aiming this at @judunno but I think those in favour of the Hurts trade tend to think he was the right choice. Unfortunately they aren't looking at what we passed on.

Before the pick I said Mims or Fulton would be my dream scenario. But the thing is: When push comes to shove you can replace a WR. You can replace a CB.

But when Wentz misses time, that drop off in talent will kill us every time. Plus the contract money. Plus the "gimmik" plays. Plus the longer seasons. Plus the stud Hurts is.

List goes on and on.

I'm more so playing devils advocate. I wanted Mims. But trying to logically justify the pick. All I can come up with is the Wentz injuries are an extreme concern for the FO. So much so they invested a 2nd rounder on a QB.

If the team are concerned Carson will miss time then sign an experienced back up to fill in for those few games. If they are that concerned they shouldn't have given him that big contract knowing they need a quality back up.

We got top production out of Foles. A player who's bang average over the course of his NFL career. McCown looked like a decent enough option. Flacco is on the market. Siemian is on the market. 

There's absolutely no guarantee Hurts will even be ready to play next year. No guarantee at all no matter how good you believe he is.
