March 23, 20214 yr This is a good move. Typical Howie. He’s an insurance policy for our QB position. This guarantees that we aren’t pulling somebody off the street if Hurts is hurt.

Yes because a few others and I were saying he isn't going to cost sheet, because others were saying we can't afford that kind of back up . @time2rock came through with the evidence lol.

March 24, 20214 yr I could have this wrong with stats, but I think I have it right. The Eagles traded away the worst ranked QB in the NFL from 2020 and are sitting on a top of dead cap money to start Jalen Hurts, so they just brought in the second worst ranked QB from 2020 to back him up, and paid him more than Hurts. They also paid him more than Trubisky, he could make more money than Brissett and he's on the record for not wanting to tutor guys. Yeah, makes sense in a Howie sorta way.

Well I don't think we were gonna get him for the veteran minimum, but I bet his experience with the Jets solidified the fact that he isn't going to be a featured starter anymore. He did say he felt he had starter ability before he signed with the Jets but was not necessarily against tutoring Darnold. I don't forsee him causing issues in the locker room. He's probably a safer pick than Nick Foles, who the local media (and a good subset of the fans) will immediately clamor for to start the moment Jalen has a bad game. Foles himself would have been the perfect mentor at this stage of his career, but his past success in the city would be too much for the media to move away from when the going gets tough for Hurts. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2893849-jets-joe-flacco-willing-to-mentor-sam-darnold-still-wants-to-be-starting-qb
March 24, 20214 yr This is not good. 3.5 million for a horrible QB doesn't make sense to me. How exactly did he increase his value from a year ago? We would have been better off with Sudfeld.
March 24, 20214 yr Sudfeld as the experienced backup to mentor Hurts?.... uhhh, ok. Seriously though, who else is better (and experienced) that would cost less? I'll wait.

Granted, he was on the Jets last year but he looked like a guy who no longer belongs in the NFL. He should’ve retired.
March 24, 20214 yr Supposedly with a 4th team, 1.25M doesn't count towards the cap. So its more like 2.25M

March 24, 20214 yr LMAO, Eagles fans and media are becoming insufferable drama queens. Complaining that 3.5 million is ''way too much'' for Flacco is laughable. That's low end back up QB money. As for the lazy narrative that it's so much more than he got last year. He wasn't healthy this time last year to the point that he couldn't even pass a physical. He had to wait until the end of May to sign which means less options, less money, etc. People should really use this new invention called google and do a little bit of research before they run their mouths.
