Come on,  If this is true then why wasn't sufficient security measures taken on 6-Jan.?

Because certain people made sure of it?

I'd love to see a thorough investigation to find out why but one of the two main political parties seems to be vehemently opposed to it.

The ring of steel around DC Milley was talking about was for the inauguration, not for January 6th.

Does the article say if his comments were made before or after Jan 6th? In other words, was his hunch correct, but just not the date?

That makes more sense.  Thanks

One theory, which is what the Mayor of DC apparently was going for, as to why there weren't as many officers patrolling the capitol as you might expect is that they believed any such march/insurrection would ultimately fail, and that if there was a firmer response they could more easily frame themselves as "victims of a tyrannical government"

Um...OK? He thinks this is dunking on Milley??

I think it was after the 6th, but I’m not certain.

The full statement is somehow...worse?

I mean, so how much thought has he given to who he would include in a coup attempt? Seems quite a bit.

He chose Milley because Mathis and Obama didn’t respect him?  I mean…

who makes important decisions like that?

This guy

There is a brief psychological assessment of Trump, who is described as an "impulsive, mentally unstable and unbalanced individual who suffers from an inferiority complex”.

And for whatever reason, MAGA logic will still leave his supporters thinking, "YEAH! You tell that guy, who you hired, how much of a dumb decision it was to hire him...kinda like you did for dozens of other people you've hired over your very short 4-year reign."

Sorry, I'm sure we've ranted about this many times, but how are you BOTH the all-controlling decider of who works with you, and also the innocent victim and judge of their incompetence?

Ok, yea that makes more sense then.

It was after:

After the failed insurrection on Jan. 6, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) called Milley to ask for his guarantee that Trump would not be able to launch a nuclear strike and start a war.

"This guy’s crazy,” Pelosi said of Trump in what the book reported was mostly a one-way phone call. "He’s dangerous. He’s a maniac.”

Once again, Milley sought to reassure: "Ma’am, I guarantee you that we have checks and balances in the system,” he told Pelosi.

Less than a week later, as military and law enforcement leaders planned for President Biden’s inauguration, Milley said he was determined to avoid a repeat of the siege on the Capitol.

"Everyone in this room, whether you’re a cop, whether you’re a soldier, we’re going to stop these guys to make sure we have a peaceful transfer of power,” he told them. "We’re going to put a ring of steel around this city and the NSDAPs aren’t getting in.”

I don’t know anything about Milley, but it seems like Trump puts way too much stock into what other people think.  If Obama thought he was horrible then Trump thinks he must be good by default I guess.  Lol

Kinda proves Milley's point, huh?

Imagine voting for this and somehow still feeling like you made a proper decision yourself. The detachment from reality this requires would terrify me.

We really are in this Bizzaro world where the more evidence that comes out of Trump's complete incompetence, the more his base will love him. His entire shtick centers on being the anti-establishment guy, so if the fake news people are saying he is an imbecile who was supported by Putin, then his people will think it is more evidence that everyone is out to get him.

It's almost like we need to say he wasn't that bad, and his support will plummet. Have Don Lemon start saying he misses Trump and watch his supporters flee in droves.

Bizzaro indeed.  I think with these new publications coming out he'll be writing more.  Then I hope he STFU and just goes away.  Wishful thinking, I know but I truly have had enough.

It comes down to emotional, intellectual, and psychological insecurity/immaturity in the most extreme fashion. Like Dear Leader, these people actually have zero self-esteem hidden under their false bravado. They can never admit fault or yield; it would break their psyches and shatter theIr fragile egos.

But you have to admit it’s comical to hear his rationalizations.

"I picked that guy because Obama fired him.”
