I was hoping the FBI would enter Mar a Lago during the speech and arrest him. 

A jury has to convict him, not the DOJ. Present the case, let the jury decide. He should have been arrested, as soon as they found the docs, that were the subject of the search warrant. The evidence of the crime.

This is the crux of Trump's scheme. Clearly he doesn't actually want to do any of the work to be President; he proved it during the 4 years of his administration. Trump is using the position as a diversion from his crimes: How dare DOJ charge a sitting-, former-, or candidate for President? It's all about leverage.

It won't rip the party in two, the spineless cowards will all line up behind him again. You can already see the massive shift in tone on FNC. DeSantis is dead in the water already. He had a good run though as DeFuture!

It'll either end with the party ripped in two, which unbelievably is probably the more desirable option, or it'll just end in him getting handed the nod and then getting trounced by Biden. Obviously, that one's worse because it only delays the inevitable and further shrinks their support.  Republicans really F'd up by not convicting after Jan 6th.  They'll never have a chance for such a clean break again.

He still has an out if he's smart enough to take it. If he's not averse to some pathetic groveling, he still has time to acquiesce and come crawling back to the orange overlord with hat in hand to ask for his forgiveness and a spot on the ticket. A run as his VP wouldn't necessarily rule him out for '28 and it'll keep him on camera to boot which is what he really wants deep down inside anyway.

Zero chance Trump would let him on the ticket.  But I mean, he's a sadistic F, so he might tell him he's going to just to get his endorsement and then turn around and pick somebody else.

I was thinking about the "super ticket" idea.  But the problem I kept hitting was, it helps Trump by showing that an up-and-coming star wants to join Team Trump.  But it f***s DeSantis. He's now attaching his brand to all of the daily Trump drama (more than before), not to mention how VPs take such a backseat to anything important.  And looming above it all is how Trump is loyal to no one, and after 4 loyal years, Trump could either say "I'm running again." or "Vote for Don Jr."
