April 5, 20232 yr After thinking about it last night, the best comparable I can come up with (and sorry for this) - Bragg filing this case is akin to the holding call on Bradberry. Yes, it's technically a crime and he does have Trump dead to rights. But it's ticky-tack and shouldn't have been filed. I think Bragg's motivation is simple -- he's very likely going to get a conviction, and he will be the first one to have charged Trump (GA may get to trial faster since the courts down there aren't as busy). And Bragg will use this to...run for Mayor of NYC. It's a move by Bragg to gain political clout with a case that is a winner but just feels cheap.

Yup, that's a pretty solid gamble to take. Draw him into contempt of courts, keep piling up the paper cuts. You also have to wonder if this is all we ever get of convicted Trump. If this is the only thing that ever lands then yeah it is worth it.
