June 14, 20205 yr Trump's audience in his first rally is going to be interesting. They already have to sign waivers so they don't sue the venue if they get the Corona Virus. How many people in his audience will wear masks? You know there won't be social distancing. Could you imagine all these "The virus is a hoax" Trump-Bots getting slammed with positive tests after the first rally?
June 14, 20205 yr (Trump voice) I believe that everyone is talking about it.... maybe.... there might be some additional information in the near future.... but.... that some people are saying that the ramp was installed by Antifa? We will be taking a strong look at this because, you know, antifa is very much hated terrorist organization and their ramps are very shoddy, very shoddy, I will tell you this. And I know construction... very shoddy.

Too late to try to reinvent himself at this point and he just can’t make it till November without saying countless more stupid things. It’s just who he is. He made it through 2016 without having to do much more than spit out 4-5 dumb slogans and by running against the most hated woman in politics. That’s not going to get it done this time. The people in the middle that wanted to give him a chance last time are going to mostly go for Biden this time. It’s really a bit impressive that he’s been the president for almost 4 years and somehow managed to not learn anything at all throughout the experience. That has to be hard to do. Trump will use what authority he thinks he has to try and fudge the process. Biden has already said he knows Trump will do what he can to somehow rig the system. I worry about the mail-in voting because Georgia was a disaster. I do worry that somehow Trump will win dishonestly.

Too many Trump supporters think it’s a liberal hoax and mock people for wearing masks. Only way I can see it happening is if they make it mandatory but I can’t imagine trump allowing that.

If sports re-opening is going to be another bad issue for him then we are running out of ways to say how screwed he is. It's starting to feel like every single bad and divisive stance Trump has made are all coming home to roost at the same time.

The Corona Rally is what I’m calling it. Or Trump’s Corona Rally. Either one works... I mean, there are going to be thousands of new cases from that rally alone. I just had a contractor calling me to reschedule a job because one of their workers tested positive for COVID-19. Smh...

I’ve been hearing the Clinton’s were involved. They decided to let this one live though. They are getting soft in their old age.

Hate to defend numbnuts, but I believe he was trying to refer to PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), aka antiviral you take prior to exposure to reduce chances of getting HIV. If you watch the video he tries (in a very bungling way) to walk it back a bit "The AIDS vaccine, or the AIDS...and as you know there's various things now and various companies are involved. But the therapeutic for AIDS..." It's a stupid thing to say for several reasons (vaccine vs prophylaxis, HIV vs AIDS), but he wasn't totally talking out of his arse. He's just kinda dumb and has the oratory skills of a bag of hammers.
June 17, 20205 yr Trump rallies during coronavirus: mocked (rightfully so) Conservatives protesting stay at home orders: mocked Racial justice protests with thousands on top of each other: encouraged

From a political standpoint, it would have been political suicide to try to squash them. Politicians are gonna politician. To my knowledge its not like anyone here who was talking about the importance of social distancing was out there protesting. I certainly wasn't.

Of course, the content and purpose of the protests is different and Trump rallies to stroke his ego and yell at the left all day for sound bytes is completely unnecessary, and as I said deservedly mocked. But you see it in the media headlines representing the imminent threat to increase COVID cases and deaths for one side, and medical professionals and politicians encouraging it. And as usual, TDSers will pile on laughing at Trumpbots (again deservedly) especially if they don't wear masks and social distance but don't say a word about the risk of COVID at protests.

I don't think it's quite right to say they "don't say a word about the risk of COVID at protests" - it's actually been something that a lot of protest groups have tried to keep in mind. Most are wearing facemasks and/or trying to keep social distance, and you can see that in the images: https://twitter.com/search?q=%23blm protests&src=typed_query Anecdotal, but this is from one of my more "woke" buddies a few days ago on FB (he's gone a little more off the deep end about this stuff than me for sure, but it comes from a good place. he's good people.) Quote Hey folks. Can we talk about masks for a second? This is really important. The country is reopening and the virus hasn’t gone away. We all saw the protests over the last few weeks and many conservatives point to that as some sort of reason that we can just go back to normal life. Here’s the thing, the protests haven’t caused any spikes in the virus, yet conservative early open states have seen massive spikes. Why is that? IT’S THE F$#@ING MASKS. Protestors take the virus seriously, there is just something more important happening at the same time. Protestors wear masks. Don’t trust my words. Go look at photos and videos from BLM protests. These early open conservative states are full of people who don’t believe the virus is real or who don’t care. The haircut protests were full of people without masks. Again, look at photos and videos yourself. So please, please, please wear a mask when you go out. MASKS WORK. PERIOD. (lightly edited for language) Some people pushed back on the above sentiment, along the lines of "it's kind of early to be saying there's been no spike", but the point is still valid. If you look at videos and images from these protests, for the most part people are wearing masks. Is everybody? No, not everybody is being as responsible as they should be. But the large majority of images and videos I've seen show people donning masks. And that helps a lot.

There's plenty mixed in that aren't wearing them and they aren't 100% effective, though obviously they're huge and everyone needs to keep wearing them. But every time I've looked at a protest picture with those huge crowds I've thought about how this isn't helping stem the Covid tide.

I'm just saying that I think it's fair to contrast the manner in which the "re-open" protests, where people were specifically not wearing masks to make a point, and the BLM protests where (from what I've seen at least) most are. The protesters didn't "forget about COVID-19", they accept it as a necessary risk for what they believe they need to do. Nuance is hard. And there's lots of hypocrisy all over every one of these things. I just think that particular one is pretty weak.
June 17, 20205 yr HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA it's Rex Tillerson all over again. So, what, that makes two Secretaries of State that openly made fun of Trump to colleagues?
