"How crazy is this? There are doors in the border wall? It's stupid. They can just walk up, open the door, and thousands of [illegals] rush in." Kirstjen Nielsen, then the homeland security secretary, told Trump that this wasn't true, Taylor writes. But Trump "didn't care" and ordered them to acquire any land where ranchers had access to the Rio Grande. "Just buy the land. I know more about land than any other human on Earth. Let's do it, okay?" Taylor quotes Trump as saying. "Give the ranchers ladders. They can use ladders to get to the other side, but not doors. You could use small fire trucks. Call the local fire stations, and use the ladders on their trucks to help them get over." The plan was "so incandescently stupid I couldn't laugh," Taylor remembers thinking at the time. He said Trump went on to say that the plan was needed because Mexico "is a hellhole." "Have I said that yet? Because it is," Trump said, according to Taylor. "It's a hellhole, and no one f****** wants that place. Forty thousand murders. Can you believe it? Sheesh." Taylor writes that Trump's "border obsession was consuming him." He often made derogatory references to migrants—including calling them "robbers and rapists"—and was furious when his ideas were not implemented. Taylor recalls Trump complaining in a meeting on March 28, 2019, that the troops he had sent to patrol the border were ineffective and needed to use deadly force. "But we can't do that," Trump said ruefully, according to Taylor, before noting that the Pentagon had told him to stop talking about "shooting migrants." Taylor told Newsweek that "when it comes to Trump, the truth is always vastly more idiotic than the fiction. He spent more time coming up with imbecilic ideas at the border than he did focusing on his job. Sometimes the ideas were stupid. Sometimes they were illegal. Often they were both." July 18, 20232 yr Ancient Israeli artifacts intended for an exhibition in Washington in 2019 are stuck at Mar-a-Lago, with Israel struggling to get them back https://www.businessinsider.com/israel-struggling-artifacts-back-donald-trump-mar-a-lago-report-2023-7 WTF? This guy is insane. Grabbing everything in the White House when he left. Meanwhile, the puss bags here who whined about keyboards, have nothing to say. Good luck, Israel. Might has while assemble a legal team now.
July 18, 20232 yr Trump, As President I can do anything I want. The ancient artifacts are mine. I can keep them as long as I want. The artifacts belong to me. The Presidential Records Act makes them Mine ok.

Under normal circumstances this is the logical endgame for both sides, but a plea deal would need to include the commitment not to disparage the DOJ, FBI, and other government agencies in addition to the agreement never to run for office again. Trump is incapable of shutting up and not spewing vile rhetoric, and how do you jail him just for breaking the plea deal that the Republican Party and 45% of America will never get behind or recognize in the first place?

So, then what are the odds he gets jail time in any of these indictments? Serious question. Anyone?

Maybe he gets parole/house arrest so he can't leave Mar-A-Lago, so his campaign stalls. That's about as far as I can see it going.

A plea deal is more likely than Trump serving jail time. The jurisdictions of federal indictments might guide Trump's legal strategy. The prospect of Florida being the only federal indictment jurisdiction is an advantage to Trump; he has a friendly judge there, and that trial will unquestionably drag out beyond the 2024 election. Federal indictments in DC, NJ, and elsewhere would definitely motivate Trump toward a plea deal, though. If there can be indictments brought where the evidence is as strong and the cases tried more expeditiously -- then Trump would have little choice but to take a plea deal.

July 18, 20232 yr Even if all these indictments end in a plea deal, he will still believe he is innocent and the victim of a witch hunt. At the very least I want him out of the 2024 race and NEVER allowed to run again. What I really want is for him to STFU, and I know the only way that will happen is when he is dead. I've really had enough and cannot believe people support him and believe him. I've lived a long while, and I have never seen anything like this. You can just say and do what you want with no consequences and even get a cult to follow your sickness.

Trump has no honor, character, discipline, morals, empathy etc. He doesn't believe in and has no respect for the Rule of Law. He doesn't care about anything or anyone except himself. He won't honor a plea deal and would violate his probation constantly. I don't see a plea deal here. Jack Smith has a slam dunk with overwhelming evidence. Trump has no defense. No video, no texts, no photos, no e-mails, no witness that would exonerate him. As much as Smith has is how little Trump has.
July 19, 20232 yr Trump should have complied. I'm happy he's a Fing moron who covets classified documents, though.
