"the voters must decide"

This is by far the better option for the country long term.  Beat him at the polls and then put him away thereafter.

edit: I agree with convicting him as quickly as possible.

Not practical, though.  Trump now has most of the Republican Party behind him on The Big Lie.  I don't think they have any intention of abiding by the vote unless it's tallied in their favor.

What makes you think they have any intention of abiding by whatever the courts say?

LOL.  It doesn't matter.  If the courts decide he isnt eligible to hold office, he never will again.

He won't if he loses the election either, just like last time.  Really no difference assuming he were to lose.

The Supreme Court is the final arbiter; there's nowhere else for them to cry to.  Anything they do contrary to a Supreme Court ruling is criminal by definition (at least it's supposed to be).

When Gore lost Florida by 537 votes (or whatever it was) he had a legal right to the recount.  The trouble started when they began arguing and litigating what the voting cards actually meant (hanging chads, etc.), which IMO was driving too far into the minutiae.  Once the Supreme Court ruled in Bush's favor, that was the end of it -- even though many saw it as a partisan vote along party lines from the Justices of that time.

Gore as outgoing VP had the constitutional obligation to certify the electoral college votes, which he did -- on January 6, 2001 btw -- to give up his chance at the presidency.  He actually overruled objections during the certification, because that's what the law and constitution dictated he do.

Sadly, times have changed.  VP Mike Pence says he did what the constitution told him he had to do.  I think he did what his lawyers correctly advised him to do, to stay out of the legal jeopardy Trump is now in.

Sure but it won't be any different whether he loses the election or if they keep him off the ballot.  If they are going to abide by SCOTUS then they will do so either way.

We already did that and they tried to put in phony electors and find fake ballots.

Yes and he was kept out of office.

edit: Trifecta - He loses the election, is convicted of insurrection, and we don’t have the lingering stain of using the legal system to neuter political opponents. Win win win.

Only after he asked Dan Quayle what to do.

Criminals, DrDumbAss. We use the legal system to neuter criminals. You don't need to both sides literally everything. Trump is a criminal and is now facing the legal consequences of his criminal actions. Stop framing this like it's a political hit job instead of actual justice finally being served.

Not exactly a master of debate.  He served up the worst softball on a tee in the history of political debates

"Help! Police! This criminal just tried to murder me! Can you arrest him immediately?"

"Umm clearly you're still alive, what are you so upset about?"

"Wait, what? I'm upset because he tried to F'in kill me! And you're just gonna let him go scott free?"

"Well, we checked his voter registration and it turns out he's your political opponent, so the optics wouldn't be so great if we arrested him, now would it?"

Trump has Dr. Philly so pussified that he thinks we shouldn’t have laws anymore.
