If you also don't think hunting, fishing, bowling, or auto racing are sports, I can see your POV. If not, than i believe you are just allowing your bias to impact your judgement. I personally think most games that require physical skill are sports. Those are hobbies/games, not sports. You can make an argument for auto racing but not the others. I don't consider darts, pool, or foosball sports either. If you're not physically exerting yourself and breaking a sweat, you're gonna have a tough time convincing me it's a sport.

Disagree, but you are being consistent. A person can get lucky and succeed in some of the things you listed without playing them before. Nobody is hitting par (or completeing laps in Nascar, etc) without putting in time and having some skill.

Chess is not a sport, and likewise a first-time player in chess is not gonna get lucky against an experienced player.
March 28, 20241 yr driving a golf cart around a manicured course and occasionally swinging a stick, isn't exerting yourself IMO and if you sweat doing it, its probably because it's either 90 degrees out, or you're a fat slob.

Swinging a golf club is a physical skill, playing chess is not. That's where I see a difference. This actually has no bearing on the original point though. Cheating in golf when you have a wager on it is the same as cheating in poker, any man with some honor wouldn't do either.

I get all that, i just don't agree. Baseball players stand around for hours during a game and spend much more time sitting on a bench than they do "exerting" themselves.
March 28, 20241 yr Sport: An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively. It all comes down to what you define as exertion. Your arm will get tired from throwing darts. Probably not so much moving chess pieces.

I walk and my home course is super long and very hilly. It isn’t equivalent to running six miles but it is tough enough.

Ok then we're back to stuff like shuffle board, pool, and foosball and other table games. Those require physical skill too. But in any case, yeah the dude stiffed contractors, cheated on his taxes, conned people out of millions of dollars, and tried to cheat a US presidential election in the most blatantly obvious way possible, of course he's gonna also cheat at golf.

Pool is closer to golf than shuffleboard and foosball IMO. But yeah, cheating while in competition, at any level, is something only a scumbag does.

As soon as someone posts something relevant to Cheeto, the thread will get right back on track. Until then, it's the political section of a football message board, does being right on topic really matter that much?

Trollin.....but 18 holes 18 shots from the tee Mid to high handicaps probably take 3 on each hole to get to the green so another 54 Add more if you take practice swings which I'd wager most hackers don't but it adds to scratch Putting we can leave off. Let's say around 72 swings. I'm always hiking or biking or walking so it's not bad at all for me but there is a reason you get hungry doing it.The vitamin D wears you out a bit as well.

It would take me 3 or 4 hrs to walk to the nearest mall from my house and I'd probably be hungry by the time I got there, but I'm not sure I'd call walking to the mall a sport because of that.
