Most people who grow up in the US don't have arranged marriages. But the remarkably low divorce rate among those that do is interesting. The low rate is likely due to those involved not having, or thinking they have, any choice. No choice in who you marry, how can you end something you had no choice in?

My mother didn't like my father when they met before the marriage. But since he was in the US, her parents were not letting her back out (she had backed out of a previous engagement to a doctor who lived in India). And my dad was back in India for a few weeks to find a wife and get married, so he was on the clock and couldn't be picky. You can't be disappointed if you go in with low expectations.
April 18, 20241 yr Trump Trial Day 3 Starts With Outed Juror Quitting The troubles plaguing Donald Trump’s first criminal trial in New York City and its anonymous jury are starting to mount, as a nurse slotted as "juror number two” bowed out after details of her personal life revealed in court allowed her to be identified by friends and colleagues, scaring her enough to want to avoid serving on the most significant trial in the country’s history. "I definitely have concerns now… about being in public. Yesterday alone, I had friends, colleagues push things to my phone questioning my identity as a juror. I don’t believe at this point that I can be fair and unbiased and let the outside influences not affect my decision to be in the courtroom,” she told the judge Thursday morning. "Thank you. I’m sorry,” New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan replied. "You’re excused.” This trial is proceeding with an anonymous jury—known to the former president and prosecutors but unidentified by name to the general public. It was a security measure put in place by the judge to deal with the heightened political tensions in the case, much of it inflamed by Trump’s own violent rhetoric and framing of the case as a treasonous "assault on America.”
April 18, 20241 yr I believe in the American legal system, but every so often a case comes along that just ends up being a complete shitshow. In my lifetime I’d say the OJ trial is number one. Here’s the thing - I have trouble believing they can find an impartial jury for this case. Maybe I just CVON too much though…

The Judge needs to take control of the case. This may happen Friday when there will be a hearing on the gag order violations.
April 18, 20241 yr There is only one way to stop him and that's Prison for 30 days. This Judge needs to take control of his courtroom.

Back when security would pat you down at the gates, my dad would have me hold his fifth of whatever he drinking to stay warm that day in my coat.

April 18, 20241 yr I mean, this is ridiculous. They are basically outing jurors so that this trial is delayed.

Maybe I just CVON too much though… I think they can find a mostly impartial jury, but the problem is that it's going to be tough for them to remain impartial throughout the process. The stakes are just too high, seems like leaks are bound to happen, and unless they live under a rock, they won't be able to avoid hearing all the horseshit that flows out of that fat F's mouth on the daily.

At worst, if Trump is found guilty it's just a slap on the wrist. And MAGAts get to exclaim it's another monumental waste of time. But Trump wants the circus. Elect a clown...
