June 3, 20241 yr The lies are almost comical at this point. Actually they always have been, but come on man. You ran on "Lock her up".

June 3, 20241 yr That corrupt Biden at it again... Multiple Trump Witnesses Have Received Significant Financial Benefits From His Businesses, Campaign Nine witnesses in the criminal cases against former President Donald Trump have received significant financial benefits, including large raises from his campaign, severance packages, new jobs, and a grant of shares and cash from Trump’s media company. The benefits have flowed from Trump’s businesses and campaign committees, according to a ProPublica analysis of public disclosures, court records and securities filings. One campaign aide had his average monthly pay double, from $26,000 to $53,500. Another employee got a $2 million severance package barring him from voluntarily cooperating with law enforcement. And one of the campaign’s top officials had her daughter hired onto the campaign staff, where she is now the fourth-highest-paid employee. These pay increases and other benefits often came at delicate moments in the legal proceedings against Trump. One aide who was given a plum position on the board of Trump’s social media company, for example, got the seat after he was subpoenaed but before he testified. Significant changes to a staffer’s work situation, such as bonuses, pay raises, firings or promotions, can be evidence of a crime if they come outside the normal course of business. To prove witness tampering, prosecutors would need to show that perks or punishments were intended to influence testimony. Trump’s attorney, David Warrington, sent ProPublica a cease-and-desist letter demanding this article not be published. The letter warned that if the outlet and its reporters "continue their reckless campaign of defamation, President Trump will evaluate all legal remedies.”

His vision of America doesn't exist, nor will it ever. It isn't perfect but we have it pretty good, relative to history and the world. How screwed up do you have to be to get to 2024 and want to burn it all down to start over? How bad did you mess up? That's MAGA. Different isn't going to be better. But that won't stop them.

If he didn't have to lie about the state of the country? The next time we have real pain, it is clear a large part of the populace is ready to chuck democracy overboard for an authoritarian. Add in economic hardship, and it will be a landslide for the next wannabe dictator.

Yep, and with everything stacked against Trump: this recent felony conviction, 3 more trials, countless other scandals, abortion rights activism reaching a fever pitch, the images of Jan 6th still fresh in our minds, him losing pro-union support, a solid economy, etc, this election should be an absolute landslide and yet it's still likely going to be closer than the last one was (and that one should've never even been as close as it was then either.) It's absolute insanity. I've never seen mental illness so readily exploited like this.

June 3, 20241 yr So now the convicted felon wants the Supreme Court to intervene. The Court has no Jurisdiction over a State Court where there is no Federal Question or Constitutional issue. This is not how the rule of law works.

Already there is a chunk of the populace ready to throw away democracy for authoritarianism. Trump has motivated and mobilized their support. He's got them at a fever pitch. They will show up in droves and vote for their orange dictator no matter what. The question is, does everybody else care enough to show up to vote for his opposition?

Uh, if we were in an actual depression, Trump would be a shoe-in for re-election. That's the whole point, we're actually in good shape economically and yet it's still gonna be a close race (or at least far closer than it should be.)
June 3, 20241 yr It’s because organizations like Foxnews, newsmax and one America news still get to operate under the notion they are actually reporting news. They are selling fear-filled hate and propaganda for ratings to the dumbest voters in the country. The whole lot of them live in an alternate reality. Trump just grabbed control of the reins with the horse already running that direction, because he saw an opportunity to grift money like a real politician. From the 1970s until he was elected president in 2016, Donald Trump and his businesses were involved in over 4,000 legal cases in United States federal and state courts, including battles with casino patrons, million-dollar real estate lawsuits, personal defamationlawsuits, and over 100 business tax disputes.[1]He has also been accused of sexual harassment and sexual assault,[2][3] with one accusation resulting in his being held civilly liable.[4] But this one? This time the trial is a sham trial? The judge, in a jury trial, is conflicted? A political witch hunt?

The incumbent shouldn't have a problem when the economy is well, relations with allies are good.. But people aren't satisfied. So many people take their cues from the media and talking heads on TV. There is no more mainstream media to tell them it is ok. Reporting that things are ok is too boring. They have to report headlines, make it something salacious to get any attention in a crowded field of 24-hour news. Always-on, always seeking more attention. Their reporting is a distortion of reality.
June 3, 20241 yr The Appeals Court in Georgia has set an October, 2024 hearing date on whether Fanni Willis can remain on the case or not. The Justice System in America is broken and this ruling is pathetic.
