I have to admit I'm a bit surprised the cult hasn't lost any ground in the face of so much losing. Winning and owning was such a huge part of the appeal at first, but we're going on 6 + years of excuses for losing now. Obviously the cult was so hard core some would never leave, but the losing hasn't made a dent.

Some of that is just general malaise around an incumbent candidate, but he also has the far left progressives that are angered by his support for Israel. Add on that Trump has made gains with black and Latino men, and Biden can't count on his base for the same numbers as in 2020. Trump, on the other hand, should have more enthusiasm from his base as the candidate out of power. And this idea of a mythical center of undecided voters that Biden can win...in my best Seinfeld voice - who are these people? Do any of us know anyone who is undecided about these 2?? Biden has 2 ways to win -- first, try and attract disaffected GOP voters who don't like Trump but are inclined to vote for the party. His campaign should be doing a much more aggressive push to Haley voters. Second, you need to blunt enthusiasm and therefore turnout among Trump's base. That's why you expose him as a weakling. They crave a strongman, and in Trump that's what they see -- a tough guy that will tell pansy liberals to get bent. You have to expose him as a fraud.

I'll partially agree with your point about who stays home. Turnout will likely be down across the board compared to 2020 so I think it comes down to who stays home in larger numbers. Which is why that while I think Biden still wins, the margins will be smaller this time around since lower turnout usually favors the GOP candidate.
