Lol at Trump having to turn over his tax documents in an election year.

Won't make the election but enough to put him behind bars.  Of course he will resign and Pence will pardon him so he'll never see jail time for this or probably any other federal offense based on anything in his past.

I hear this sometimes - and I'm not a lawyer - so I wonder...In order to pardon someone, they'd first have to convicted of something, right? A lengthy trial and all that. Can you pardon someone from an accusation of a crime?

It just makes me think, knock on wood, that Pence won't be in a position to pardon anyone by the time an actual trial would happen.

No, you can pardon on "presumption".  That's what Ford did for Nixon.  So Pence could list a lot of general habberdash and cover a wide range of Federal Law that could never be used to convict Trump of anything he has previously done.

At least that's my understanding.  Maybe there is some limit as to how wide the blanket can cover or conversely some requiement on a narrower definition of what someone is being pardoned for but for sure it can be based on a presumptive approach.

No, you don't have to be convicted or even accused. Like when Ford pardoned Nixon for any and all crimes he MAY have committed.

Wonder if it can be so wide so it just basically says "all Federal crimes that may have been commited at any point"?

I love how it never dawns on him or his supporters that he's the president and could direct the justice department to investigate this instead of just rage tweeting about it

Full court press...he may snap today

I mean, that would lead to exoneration. Maybe he learned something after his commission on illegal voter fraud found nothing...

Yep. He's simultaneously the richest, most bigly powerful man to ever hold office, and also a hapless victim to countless forms of harassment...by his own government.

Can’t we just end it today? Hw can grab a bag full of hamberders and some pooseye, throw Pence the keys, and tweet off into never never land.

Pence will pardon him before that happens.

Walls tightening now.

Durham may punt time after election. I’m guessing he doesn’t have anything.
