I mean... I'd hope that's obvious to anyone. I can't imagine that there's anyone who's confused as to where Joe Biden comes down on using secret police to disappear people.

I think it's as serious of an issue as there can be. But it's a no-brainer. It'd be like asking him where he comes down on the Gustapo. 

The questions really needs to be asked of conservatives and Trump, since they seem to be sponsors of it.

Take nothing for granted my friend.  Biden is pro Patriot Act so there is one place he goes much further on this type of topic than suits me.

Ask Trump of course BUT also ask Biden.  That is a no-brainer.  Not asking for clarity is foolish.

 

btw - Asking Trump really isn't necessary.  We already know where he stands.  What should happen is the criticism should rain down on Trump VERY VERY hard from all sides.  So far the response has been luke warm.  I do see some coming out against this type of unmarked federal police action in a couple media outlets and from a couple members of congress and local Oregon authorities but not the wave I would hope to see.

It’s doubly problematic because these federal secret police are operating under one of the several different alphabet soup agencies under the DHS. This is really turning difficult.

There's no rule that says all issues have a gray area or that "the other side" needs to be catered to because... reasons. Sometimes the answer to a question, or which side you or someone else falls on a particular issue, is clearly defined.

Of course I expect Biden to answer that he does not support this type of action but he is required to clarify his position. It is a no brainer. It isn’t threading a needle but rather exactly the opposite. It is a start of setting a reasonable position for our federal govt.

And what we're saying is not sending secret police to disappear people is already baked into the "reasonable position for our federal govt" equation. I truly believe all the normal people in this country already think that.

And what I’m saying is this is such a departure from our national values that every major POTUS candidate should be pressed to comment. This is Soviet Union stuff. 

Biden has a pretty middle of the road view when it comes to law enforcement.  He’s not going to support Gestapo tactics nor is he going to defund the police.  Stop with the "he’s going to be influenced by AOC” b.s.  She very publicly backed Bernie.

Trump, on the other hand, thinks his presidency hinges on law and order, so he’s going to support more questionable tactics.  This is what the crisis at the border boils down to as well:  treating refugees not like they’re refugees, but like actual criminals.

While some people see it as toughness, others see it as inhumane.  That’s one of the things you’re deciding at the ballot box in November.

Let’s prioritize asking the guy currently running the Executive Branch about law enforcement actions taken by the Executive Branch. It’s not that complicated. One of them is President and ordering/allowing this while the other is simply a candidate.

Not sure why we need the opinion of the guy who has never supported anything like this in his 40+ year political career at the same time as the guy, you know, doing it.
