April 28, 20205 yr There are just too many theories. I bought it when it was a heart procedure gone wrong. He's either brain dead or completely dead. Then, nope, he's got/avoiding coronavirus. Or, nope, he was hurt in a missile test. South Korea knows where he's hiding but won't reveal it... Too much smoke. It is weird he hasn't made any appearance in over two weeks.

He'll turn up one way or another. Reports are the virus is running rampant through NK. I mean it is a country where much of the citizenry is malnourished, 3rd world rural, and inadequate health care. One rumor I read he was hiding from COVID-19, and the Chinese docs sent there were to help due to the insane infection level within the country.

But it's interesting, in light of South Korean government's repeated insistence that Kim lives, that it would not be in the South's interest to provoke the North by revealing information that the North chooses to hide. If nothing else, it could compromise the South's sources of intelligence in the North, and you have to respect how careful they'd be not to do that. But with nothing to gain from revealing such knowledge, and a lot to lose if the North's government is destabilized, it's also clear that the South would be doing anything in its power to promote a stable transition of power. (One of the curious dynamics between the two countries is that any significant change in the North's government would more likely be a disaster than a victory for the South, but of course neither country can publicly acknowledge anything like that, and no other country has any incentive to discuss it either.)
