November 13, 20241 yr Figuring this thread is the best place to share a little pride in my offspring… my 13 year old son was gluten free (and corn, egg, and dairy free as well) for several years but has been able to eat regularly for about a year or so now. A few weeks ago he decided that he wanted some sourdough bread. But instead of asking us to buy it, he researched how to make it and gave us a list of ingredients. He made the starter, tended to it and fed it for a couple of weeks to build it up and get it ready for use, and with his day off school on Monday he baked his first sourdough bread. He had some ideas to improve it for next time, but he’s been so excited about the process that is now sharing his starter with multiple friends and school so they can try their hands at making bread too. Definitely cool seeing him find and pursue his passions on his own…
