Cap room.  Either a Barnett extension or Ertz move coming to make room.

Wasn’t he due to make $8m with the steelers next season? Why would he take a 50% cut ?

The Steelers are paying him over 6 mill this year after they cut him. So in the end he will make a little over 10 mill this year if he hits all his incentives in the Eagles contract.

Didn’t we win the super bowl with him or something?   I’ll take that scenario again.

It's hard to disagree, but it'd be great if he had a good season and stays.

Yeah you've got to think one or the other there. Or I guess a Cox restructure...

Finally got someone to start opposite Slay.  No risk signing at 4 mil for one year

That's what's confusing me...last I seem to remember was that The Eagles had about $3.7m in cap space...so maybe it's a 1 yr $4m deal with a dummy year tagged on to reduce the '21 hit, or maybe, as you say, there is another announcement due soon...

Or cut someone who is not going to make the team like adrian killians and save $700k

Good signing.

Maybe someday they will draft a starting quality corner though.

Only the top 51 count right now so that does nothing.

It's hardly a surprise when a starting caliber player holds out until just before training camp to see if he can get more $ or a better situation overall.  Why be in a hurry when you have an offer or two in hand that are unlikely to be withdrawn?

So now the question mark is mainly coaching staff and whether or not Hurts is a franchise QB. Both lines are healthy and have depth. WRs looking better, RBs enough for 2 teams

A band aid on a gaping wound, but it's better that than pouring acid on a gaping wound which is what we would be looking at if we asked Jacquet or Seymour to start at CB2.  And, McPhearson needs to earn the CB2 spot. So, this was logical.

Good signing, IMO.

Shores up a weakness, but only temporarily if he leaves next season.

Seems as if the D is getting a bit of a makeover.

With 3 (expected) 1st rd picks next April, pretty good chance they add an elite talent to the group.  And hopefully MePhearson develops into a solid #2.

True, but I also expect with potentially 3 first round picks we will address CB in the draft.

Forget about Franchise QB. If we have a QB, who can manage the game..which I believe Hurts can...then we have more than enough pieces to have a good team this year. Siri managed to achieve pretty good results in Indy with similar level of talent. Sure it would be nice if Hurts takes a giant step forward, but my only criteria for him this year, is manage the game and don't F Up. Things are looking up.

Nice move by Howie. Eagles quietly had a good off-season.

Howie takes a lot of criticism, some of it very much deserved. But, although I still don't like the Dickerson pick, he has nailed this offseason.

The move down then back up to get Smith was masterful. Harris, Wilson and Kerrigan were all great pick ups.

The Eagles were desperate for a corner, but Howie played the market really well, when teams were handing out big contracts to bang average corners like Jalen Mills, Ronald Darby, Mike Hilton and William Jackson, we got a good and durable starting corner for relative peanuts.

Good job. Let's see what Siriani, Gannon and Hurts can do now they have some reasonable talent around them.

Not really true. Majority of good starting caliber players are gone the first few weeks of free agency. Both Nelson and the Eagles expressed interest for awhile, little interesting it took so long is all. Not many starting caliber players on the street right now.

Not really.  Decimated the 2022 cap situation, and none of the free agents will be on the roster next year, but 5 of them will count against the cap.

In 2021 the Eagles dead cap number is over 48mil. In 2022 their DCM is under 13mil. The Eagles current cap space under 4mil (probably before this move) and their Cap for 2022 is under 13mil. If he kept your boy who couldn’t hit the side of a barn the Eagles cap situation for 2022 would actually be worse.
