Same here even though I have a more optimistic outlook. The main thing that gives me pause is that they have a rookie HC and a very young staff that probably has not seen or experienced a lot of controversy. Given that they coach a team that plays in Philly, with a sort of difficult starting part of their schedule, it could unravel this team quickly. They could easily start 3-4 or 2-5 before they get to the softer part of their schedule and I am not sure how Siri will be able to handle it.

 

We haven't actually seen this team play much in preseason.  Hard to say anything really.  New coaches, players, 2nd year QB with only 4 starts in a new system, etc.  The bar is low after a 4 win season and all the changes so we'll see.

That's my thing for as much as I say I don't care about preseason games, I also don't know what they look like since they didn't play lol.

All I keep hearing about is the D coordinator Gannon and he is a rising star on the coaching ranks. This team really likes to hire strong minded Defensive coordinators that's for sure. 

The only way I see it is if Hurts turns out to be a top QB. I’m talking like a top 5-7 QB in the league. Outside of that, I just don’t see that they have enough talent.

Preseason is really useful for the team to evaluate, make roster decisions, see what plays are working and not, make tweaks, etc.  Not so much for fans.  This is why there are more and more joint practices.  They don't get a lot of time to prepare for the season so real competition helps evaluate and prepare.

My mind can be changed with facts, rational thoughts and opinions. I'm not to stubborn. So to you I say well done sir. 

The entire NFC East is dreadful, so playoffs isn't out of the question... But I don't expect the Eagles to be any consistent enough. There's a lot of holes on the team, new coaches, too much to figure out. I think a 7-10 record or better would be quite successful for them.

No I agree with you, for fans there's not much in preseason.  Before this year the 3rd game we always knew we'd get the starters a full half.  But we barely saw the starters this year so I agree with you, we haven't actually seen this team play yet.  But preseason has its purpose for the teams to prepare.  

I expect a lot more rust than usual, however there is a nice core of veterans on this team so hopefully that helps.

Well fans need their " game tape" . They should at least be better prepared then last year.

They used to give more access with the Lehigh camp and Eagles Live and all that.

I'm old so I miss West Chester and Lehigh.  The access and proximity to the field back at West Chester was insane by todays standards.

I was never at the West Chester one unfortunately. I started going to Lehigh back in 98. They would have a table set up with stacks upon stacks of game tickets for face value which was 45 bucks back then.

My first game was in 99 with the almighty koy Detmer getting his 1 and only start that year and they freaking won with a whopping 34% completion percentage lol. Tossed 3 touchdowns though.

Teams are capable of going from worst to first. They do have good front offensive and defensive lines. That always gives them a chance as long as they can stay healthy.

Eagles rode a last place schedule all the way to the Super Bowl in 2017. I don’t have a problem beating up on some cupcakes to make it to the playoffs.

Absolutely. Gives the team confidence and belief.

Today was awesome to see. Started to answer a lot of questions. San Fran played well today, Dallas lost a close one to the Bucs and KC may be the class of the AFC. If we're 3-1 after the next few weeks I'll be ready to eat a ton of crow and happily.

Agreed. The NFL is a funny business and next week San Fran could blow the doors off us and suddenly the mood does a full 180. But that was a very very good opening week performance.

It's only one game...albeit a really good one...but even so, this season feels like we may finally be back out of the 'Just beat Dallas twice and I'll be happy' rut of the past couple seasons.
