We also don't want to turn into the Cleveland Browns of old in firing Sirianni after just one season.

It might be better to accept the growing pains for the long-term

But didn't the Browns ultimately make the right decision?  And how well does it reflect on a franchise when it sticks with the wrong choice just to save face?

Part of the blame for Sirianni’s maddening refusal to run, should probably go to Jeffrey Lurie. We know the stories about his preference for passing.

What are you seeing that gives you no confidence?

This team has poor discipline.

His play-calling is largely unimaginitive.

He is slow to make in-game adjustments

He has abandoned the run game.

He appears to lack a feel for the game.

this has been said about every offense oriented head coach we've had since Andy Reid.

You are looking at the score and not the game. The Bucs could’ve scored 40 easily on us. They took their foot off the gas, the end.

Well as easily as they could have scored 40, the refs took points from us by allowing Tampa to tackle our receivers before the ball arrived.  Also ended the game with the BS taunting call.  If this is even a remotely fair officiated game they wouldn't have had the luxury of "taking their foot off the gas".

Well, I've had enough disappointment for one night. The Eagles have an inept coaching staff and a running athlete who can throw good once in a while at QB. They still have no LB'ers. This is a 4 year fix, and that's if they get it right along the way. I don't trust Howie to do that. Oh well, good night.

The sooner you realize the NFL is dead, the sooner it will make sense.

"Feel for the game” is actually one of his greatest strengths.

The poor discipline is definitely a problem.

Too woke.

A friend said to me, "Your guys played well against a good team.  It was close."

I answered, "Hooray!  We won the Moral Victory Bowl."  <_<

Whether you like Steve Smith or not, he is pretty much on point here.

I haven’t listened, yet, but I’ll be shocked if he puts any of the blame on Hurts.

EDIT: Not only did he put zero blame on Hurts. He specifically absolved him of any blame.

Hurts definitely has not been good enough. But, the HC first and foremost needs to run a NFL offense and this isn't an NFL offense.  Smith says it. Seth Joyner says it. And, it's pretty obvious with no formation variation and no run game.  The HC needs to do that first and then it gives the QB more of a chance to have success.  But, I do agree that I don't see Hurts as a starter. But, most QBs would fail in the system we are running.

So watched the first quarter live and then the end of the half and third quarter live so need to rewatch what I didn’t see. The first quarter I was positive enough after because the team responded to going behind. I don’t know what the hell happened in the second quarter. The TD with the DPI call was lucky imo because it was an under-thrown ball. I hate that rolling out right thing hurts does towards the sideline and in the third he missed ertz who was open, because as Troy aikman said "hurts needs to learn how to not line drive every pass.” Anyway another L.

What ??  The QB had a season low 4.4 YPA, and they didn’t eclipse 100 yards of offense until the 4th quarter.  Do you even watch the games ?

So what?   The problem I saw was terrible short yardage.  In the 9ers game.  Which caused the loss.  Here, the loss was caused by Bucs are better.   The short yardage game worked well.  And it did before.  Hurts running it in works.  The downside to Hurts running it in is that the stats look worse,  td/int ratio,  and passer rating.  rushing TDs are not passing TDs.  but Hurts running doesn't work.

I did notice that the Eagles spent a lot of time and effort throwing short and pointless passes behind the line of scrimmage.   They love those passes and they don't work.  Solution = Mailata.  Mailata would not be immediately tackled by one fast player, he'd bounce right off.  Instead of -3 and 1 and 3,  you'd see 5,10,15,20 before he's eventually dragged down.  And it goes on Sportscenter.

The Eagles now have the ability to score TDs from the red zone,  close in.

The stats were skewed by so many passes behind the line which were immediately stuffed.   That's hopefully something that the Eagles either make effective with Mailata, or stop doing so much.  They're trying stuff,  some is working, some is not.  It's clear to me that Hurts has enough potency at QB and build around him until his contract is up after the 2023 season.  That's a reasonable way to go.   Add the top athletes, lots of draft picks, typically defense.  It would be great if there was a 240 pound RB/FB who can run between the tackles and also lead block.   He'd likely be available on day 3.  Maybe D'eriq King, who Brian Johnson worked with back at Houston I think on day 3,  for the QB room.   It looks like Willis and Ridder will be high picks.

Tyree Jackson might be back soon, and he's potentially a potent weapon.  The Eagles had Ertz running through the backfield, they can have Tyree Jackson doing something similar.   Tyree also has a cannon for an arm,  likely bigger than Hurts.  6'7 249 4.59 1.59.  It often seems when watching the Eagles that they're just lacking 1 or 2 larger people in the backfield.  And lacking players in the backfield overall.

The Bucs won the Super Bowl last year.   The hardest game for the Eagles this year.  And yet, the Eagles only lost by 6.   Every single game for the rest of the year will be against a team that is not as good as the Bucs.  The Chiefs are the 2nd toughest team on the schedule, another loss, that game is now behind them.  The Eagles have a lot of pretty easy left, and they didn't get blown out by the Bucs.  Whatever it is they choose to do on offense or defense,  it will be more effective against teams that are not as good.  And the Eagles should be winning a good number of those games.

Hurts has been good enough.

He wasn't as good as Mahomes, Brady or Prescott in Dallas.   The Eagles screwed up the 9ers loss with unacceptably bad short yardage.

If you look at his rushing stats, with an emphasis on rushing TDs, and his overall passing stats, you will see that he's been productive enough for a 2nd round QB who is young and has a cheap contract and is already in the league.

They'll win a bunch of games,  this was a close game against arguably the top team and the Eagles have a pretty easy schedule going forward.

Pretty much, Brady completed 81% of his passes with a busted up thumb, Hurts had 115 passing yards, the Patriots had 7 penalties for 120 yards, lol.  Plus they had dudes off the street playing corner.

the more i read from people here, the more I'm convinced Mailata posts are quality posts.   If you all stop saying stupid stuff, maybe those Mailata posts become below average posts.  But there's a long way to go before that happens.

Eagles aren't good.  Not improving.  Hurts is actually getting worse, unfortunately.

Another note: return Mailata to LT, Driscoll to RT, Herbig at RG and put Dillard back on the bench where he belongs.

Oh, you're one of the ones who is wrong about most things.   Keep Dillard at LT until he actually sucks.  They drafted him with a first round pick to play Left Tackle and it would be right if he was able to play LT capably.

Mailata  can play RT, unless he's needed elsewhere, in which case maybe Driscoll at RT.

The Eagles just lost by 6 to the super bowl champs
the week before they beat the 3-1 Panthers.
they've also lost to the Chiefs and Cowboys.

They have an easier schedule coming up with jets and lions and 2 with washington and 2 with the giants broncos and raiders are both quite winnable games.   that's 8 more wins  for a total of 10, even without beating a team that you'd call good.  saints is winnable.  cowboys in philly is winnable,   and maybe the Eagles have some special insight into the mighty Chargers.  There's no losses there.  I would guess that there will probably be losses,  but there's no "no way they win that one" games.  The Eagles just played that game,  and they played the Chiefs. Cowboys in Dallas.  Those 3 games there are probably the 3 toughest games of the year, and they lost them all but they're out of the way, and on to easier games.

So now they decide to run a little more? Against a defense that's really good against the run... Yeah sorry I don't think Sirianni is the answer. 115 passing yards against one of the worst pass defenses in the league? Pathetic.

The problem with this team is not Hurts.

I'd agree. Whether he's the answer or not he isn't the problem right now. That's the HC.
