I love his burst and for a smaller back he finishes runs pretty good. I think he's good but we don't know. I certainly don't feel confident to say he's a legit #2. And Clement certainly isn't.
April 30, 20205 yr I like Clement. I thought he'd do a little more than he has by now but he's been, gasp, often injured. I hope he shows up and makes me not miss Howard.

He can't pass block very good so hard to make him a 2. Clement can block pretty good and was good for us in short yardage. If Sanders touches and amount of plays go up a bit from last year like I expect them too, I'd call them co-number 2s. One of the rookies or a late free agent vet will be added I am sure, assuming Clement is healthy and makes the team.

I think they view their guys as Sanders #1....and then the rest are situational backs. Down/distance/formation are what matters there.

April 30, 20205 yr Yeah, it’s unfortunate a young man’s sport and especially position. Speaking of which... Frank Gore? I should start a thread.
April 30, 20205 yr Happy about this move - no risk signing but we know he can play if healthy. If he hasn't healed up, he will just get cut but I am rooting for him
May 1, 20205 yr I think Howie will sign someone before training camp begins to add competition. Sanders is the only running back I have confidence in right now. Scott was a nice story last year and the team supposedly loves Holyfield. But both are huge question marks. And Clement might be a nice signing, but who knows if he'll even be able to stay healthy.

May 1, 20205 yr For some reason I thought he signed another place, but I love the guy and am happy he is home. When he is healthy he is a good contributor to the team and gives them some veteran depth.
May 1, 20205 yr Hopefully with some of these receivers they have drafted they can go back to using Clement less than they had to before. For some players less is more.

This is now his 3rd team where the team picked up Howard then followed that by getting a faster younger and better pass catcher after

May 1, 20205 yr I didnt realize that Shady was actually very effective last season. 4.6 ypc on 101 carries. I'd prefer Freeman or Hyde, but I think Shady can actually bring something to the team besides nostalgia.
May 1, 20205 yr No downside to bringing Clement back. If he can stay healthy, he has shown to be a really solid RB. His issue has always been injury. I will say that if they keep him on the active roster, they need to have a PS running back that they like a lot as well, because it’s hard to rely on Clement to stay healthy. Chances are good he gets hurt again and they need to pull someone from the PS. I don’t know the PS rules so not sure if Scott is eligible anymore. Even if he is though, chances are good that if they cut him he will get picked up by someone based on what he did last year.
