I see what you’re saying & I understand why you don’t enjoy that. I personally enjoy them (for most part), and don’t mind doing them to level up. So it’s just a to each their own kinda thing. It has been 2 years since their last release so it’s not like this was super rushed or a yearly release, but fair enough that they could of put more time into it.

Agree 100%. The Memory missions are just...Part of the game. Haven't they always been?

The complaints sound like kind of the reason I ended up not purchasing this. I enjoyed Odyssey for a bit but honestly it just gets so damn repetitive. Idk if it's just because I've played literally every installment and am just bored of it now or what. But with Odyssey I just couldn't get into it no matter how much I forced myself to play. And I loved pretty much every previous installment. There just wasnt much drawing me back into the game and a lot of the stuff seemed like a meaningless grind.

Yeah they have. They haven’t been as big of a thing in this game yet. You have a little intro to start the game, but then after that it’s just 10 mysteries in each region found across England. You could probably ignore them completely if you want. I’ve done 8 of them so far, but they’re just an obstacle course that end with a quick movie shot & I’m assuming some foreshadowing to what happens when you finish all 10. Honestly, they’re a ton of fun & can be challenging.

All the yule quests they came out with are broken.

-Cow one: marker to escort kid back to his mother was on the other side of the map when she's at raventhorpe, after about 5 minutes walking up and down the river it finally fixed itself

-ale one: once I had the barrel the marker was again across the map, couldn't find the boat anywhere.

-didn't get credit for either the drinking or archery mini game missions

120+ hours so far. I believe I’m finished with the Norway map 100%. Vinland 100% done. England like 95% done, I just have Winchester side missions & main story arc, & hamtunscire main story arc remaining. Barely touched Asgard map, & haven’t been to the other mythical map yet. This game is a grind, still not as bad as Odyssey. The stealth is really annoying now, it’s almost impossible to be stealthy and you’ll most likely have to just fight through everything. I even turned down stealth difficulty and it didn’t help.. I hope I never have to stack those stupid rocks again, and collecting those stupid design papers has drove me insane. But hey, so far very much worth the money so far. I enjoy this game a lot & am taking a few days off from it. I’m pretty close to beating the game & am not ready to do that yet lol

i dislike lack of pause functionality because I feel like my playtime gets inflated, but I must have something like 50 hours being "logged in" to Ghost of Tsushima right now (maybe 35 played), and have cleared 1 of 3 maps. Internet sounded like you should be able to Platinum in it a 40-50 hour window, so not sure if I am just playing very slowly or what, but I'm feeling like it will take me close to your listed time to knock out everything in this game.

Ghost is great, but by the time I finished the main story I was done with it...WAY too repetitive. Played Legends a bit, but just got bored. I doubt I'll ever go back to that game.

Picking up AC Valhalla next Sat w my PS5.

still no PS5? wish I'd had known earlier!

Playing Ghosts on PS5 is amazing. Is Legends something added after the fact? There are all these weird dudes sitting on the ground that say "Legends Storytelling" when I find them, and shows like like a piece a parchment with asian letters on it as the icon on the map. Those are The ONLY thing I have not done playing through the game. I imagine I am 80% through the 3rd and final map section so can't have more than 10 missions left including side ones. When I saw "Legends" as a second trophy tree figured it wasn't part of the main game which is why I have bypassed so far. Even without those, I have maxed my armor and level and all my technique points like a dozen missions ago.

Looking forward to your thoughts on it. Pro tip when you’re in early parts of the game: try and collect every chest you can. They’re the smaller gold dots (not the wealth ones which are a bigger gold dot) on the map that you’ll only see if you zoom in on world map, or use Odins sight if you happen to be near one. These chests will give you iron ore and leather that you’ll need for upgrading weapons/armor/settlement. They also give you supplies, which you’ll need to upgrade your settlement. Sometimes you’ll find Runes for weapons/armor.

you can also find iron ore from iron ore deposits & leather from wild animals but the return is nothing compared to the chests

it’ll make the game more of a grind to start, and you don’t have to hit all of them, but it will help.

I think this game has been discounted on BB website this past week. I already did a price match a few weeks back and happened to get this on a buy 2 get 1 free, so I’m making out even tho I haven’t played 1s of it yet.

Ya I wasn't to in a hurry to get one once things went to pot...Not any games out for it anyway. I randomly went to BB website last week, and they had them available so I scooped one. Still need 2 more though so I'll be checking here and there till I can bag one for my brother, and for my son so...Let me know if you still have access to any 🙂

Legends is a co-op mode that was released as free DLC about a month or so after release...I played it a bit, and it is neat, and beautiful, but it's a bit repetitive and all that. Still fun enough if you have a brother or friend that you want to play with.

Good advice! I'll def report back, and try to collect all them chests.

2 1/2 months & 134 hrs later, I have 100% finished the game.
Overall, a pretty fun game. Definitely get your $60 worth, but like Odyssey it is a grind just not on that caliber. Also fairy buggy. I appreciated how each sub plot of taking over a territory had its own unique and create little story. Even though it still ends up being the same thing of storming a castle. My settlement is at the max, I thought it would be more rewarding getting it fully leveled up but it really isn’t. Basically just gives you buffs in the game when you have a feast in your hall. The main quest was really fun and interesting for awhile, with an unexpected twist that never really got explained until I looked it up online. Taking down the Order of the Ancients wasn’t as fun/challenging as tracking cult of Kosmos in Odyssey, and ending of that was a little lame. Leader of the order was obvious. The mythology part of the game was alright, wasn’t as fun as fighting the Minotaur or Medusa. Big time glitch on boss battle of Asgard, when you fight Fenrir the 2nd time. Also a very annoying and frustrating fight in general. Main character Eivor wasn’t that fascinating of a character, others like Ivarr and Sigurd were more interesting.

I like how they setup for the next assassins creed though. Once you beat the game, you can get Thor’s hammer but you have to have all of Thors gear. The hammer is dope, but kinda lame that you can only get it at the very end and not sooner.

Id give it like 7.5/10,

$30

From reading the reviews and the last few installments, there’s just too many other things I want to play and don’t even want to pay $30 for this. Pretty sure this is the first AC I’m not buying.

I got it for $25 or $30 right around launch but haven’t played it yet. TBF I haven’t played anything since finishing ghost of Tsushima around Jan 5-10

I stopped playing because of missions that wont start. Tooo buggy. I'm going to wait for the Paris DLC to be patched and updated. Everything I've read and watched so far talks about how buggy it is. Especially this long after launch. I stopped playing and now I'm going through my second playthrough of Odyssey. I absolute love it. One of the best games I've ever played.

I understand the hate from the original AC game fans, but just as a gamer who never really played any of the older titles outside of 3 and Syndicate...I love the game. I was so let down by Valhalla because of how epic Odyssey was to me.

It’s definitely buggy. I started playing the Ireland DLC for maybe 2 hours, this was around the time of its release, and you know it was a little fun and a little different, but I just haven’t been interested in playing this game again since I beat it. I bought the season pass to when the game dropped, already regretting paying the extra $30 for that. Maybe one day I’ll be bored enough & finish the DLC.
You’re experience is just like mine with AC. Only played First AC & revolution (one when you’re in America fighting redcoats, think that’s what it’s called??), then played Odyssey.  Such an awesome game! Graphics, story, mythology, mercenary tier, cult of Kosmos were fantastic. When I think back at games I really enjoyed, it’s one of the best.
I wouldn’t say I was really let down. Wasn’t as great as odyssey but did improve some parts of Odyssey’s weaknesses. I still thought it was a solid game to play. I want to play origins now and compare the 3.

Hoping our next AC is going to be a Mayan assassin.

I played AC 3 first. That's the American Revolution one, then Syndicate. Followed by Odyssey. My 2nd ever platinum on the PS. But it in December. As a matter of fact...it was the Saints game. Haha. Downloaded it during halftime ..and logged over 300 hours.

The reason I was so let down with Valhalla was because, at first...I liked it. Hated the changes in combat, but got used to them over time. During one of the missions, there was an Origin Easter Egg. The timing was perfect, because that's when Valhalla started to become really buggy, so I decided to give Origins a go. That's when Valhalla became a total letdown to me.

If you loved Odyssey, you'll see what I mean. Origins was awesome. Odyssey perfected it. Valhalla got so far away from the other two. Once you play Origins...you see what I mean. Bayek is the strongest character our if the 3 in the new trilogy. I hope he comes back somehow. Also....theres some really good story telling in Origins that Odyssey and Valhalla lacked.

Black Flag was Fing awesome, by far the most fun to play.

Valhalla screams that the studio wants a huge world just to say they have a huge world. Valhalla was very empty of anything substantial so they threw in a million little things like treasures and artifacts, especially once you got up north there was virtually nothing.
