Yeah, I'm all for bullying LeBron James as much as possible, but I just can't really find much enthusiasm behind Kanter's whole anti-China tirade. He's kind of obnoxious, honestly.

I have no problem with him calling them out whatsoever.

And LeBron James is the only athlete that Nike does business with.

Gee…who is that guy who has his own entire brand at Nike? The guy Scottie Pippen hates?

Kanter only talks about LeBron because he knows there is a segment of fans that hate him irrationally. He won’t ever call out MJ because people would turn on him. He’s a massive hypocrite just trying to get attention.

I was literally just thinking about this today.... Umm how about Jordan? The guy who put Nike on the effing map and has made them billions of dollars. If a large portion of Kanter's income came from Nike he would be keeping his mouth shut to protect his money just like any other person would do.

I think the main issue is how much James bishes about social justice and politics. Every news story he has an opinion he broadcasts to the world. Jordan mostly keeps to himself on political issues. He’s not outspoken, so he avoids the heat.

True, James is an easy target for it though. Does anyone really care about how other countries treat their citizens though? I don't, I care about how we treat the citizens of this country.

Like ive said before though it's a battle that will go no where.

Freedom comes from a country that denies its own participation in the Armenian genocide.  Of course he’s unable to go back there though…. I think Turkey wants to throw him in prison!

Yeah turkey has some pretty oppressive sheet on their own. You will get disowned quick over there if you don't follow their beliefs.

In his NBA ecosystem they are clearly the dominant company. They also run false ads implying they stand for social justice.

They’re an American company targeting American consumers.  Do you think young kids in urban areas are interested in human rights abuses in China?  This ain’t Amnesty International my man

I know "defending Nike” isn’t the hill you want to die on. That company is shameful.

I completely agree with your original point. Anyone STILL doing business with China is disgusting and should also be taken to task.

It’s not a "tirade.” He’s just been stating facts and wearing the shoes. Outlets like CNN have used words similar to tirade in what seems to be an attempt to discredit his message. I took a screenshot of an example of this very thing a few weeks ago. I’ll see if I can find it.

EDIT: I took a screenshot of a Yahoo article after also being disgusted by a CNN headline. Here it is:

Lol.  Ok

People miss the point on this so easily. He’s calling out Nike, Lebron, and Jordan because they call for equality and human rights while using slave labor to produce their shoes. He’s essentially calling them out for being the do as I say not as I do movement.

Except he's not calling out Jordan. He's only calling out LeBron because he is too afraid of Jordan's fans.

If you're going to be bold, then go all the way. Otherwise, you're just a hypocrite trading off the general animosity a segment of the population feels towards LeBron.

Jordan's an even bigger scumbag than Lebron.  They both turn a blind eye to slave labor, but at least Lebron didn't get his father killed by not paying off gambling debts.

Something to consider: for Kanter's generation Jordan is the name of a shoe more than it is an NBA player.

It's not that they don't know who Jordan is or what he meant to the game. But he's a historical figure.

LeBron IS the NBA for the last generation. Jordan is less relevant.

We're old.

Valid point John.  And I'm right there with you, that statement makes me feel old as F.  Vikas, I feel this point is valid but I also feel it's because Queen LeBron involves himself on social media in seemingly every political/social justice issue.  Jordan is actually probably a worse human, but he doesn't make himself a target.

Understood. Like I said, Jordan is not LeBron though who ****es on Twatter about every little thing on earth.

Like I said -- a segment of people have irrational hatred for LeBron James, and Kanter is using that.

He has called out Jordan.

That may factor in. But Jordan is still a historical, not contemporary, figure for anyone currently playing in the league.

The people Kanter is trying to appeal to know LeBron from his play and social media presence. The same just isn't true for Jordan.

He finally did once on CNN it seems.

Oh, and he got himself on CNN. How convenient. Do they usually book backup centers playing 12 minutes a game?

I'm going to laugh my ass off when Kanter sells out to be a media personality. Dude may be an attention hoor, but you have to respect how well he's playing the game.
