I did Statue of Liberty and forgot to mention that. I also would like to do colosseum but have no clue where I would put it. There is a massive titanic coming out in near future that’s like $650 I think. I did plastic model cars/dinosaurs in my late elementary/middle school years… once you had to paint and glue all the pieces. After like 10 I did a titanic one that took FOREVER but was exciting to have something so complex. Obvious legos are much easier since it’s all straightforward instructions and no precision is needed, but it’s one I may consider when it comes out

My wife wants me to build the Titanic one. Now since she really seems to want it, the price is not really an issue. But just finding a space where a 3 foot long lego wouldn't look odd is a bit of a hang up.

Yeah. I’m a very mild Star Wars person, meaning while I own and have watched all the movies and mandolorian, the only "merch” I think I have is the baby yoda Lego, I think like 3 Christmas tree ornaments, and possibly a $10 target T-shirt. But from the size standpoint the $800 millennium falcon would be fun, but I don’t care enough to want to find somewhere for that in my house. I have seen a TON of people tho who have used glass coffee tables with a lower "shelf” to store that, but a titanic figure would be more of a table top item since it’s damn near impossible to have a bookshelf or common shelf wide enough for that thing.

My son has a LOT of the star wars legos. He is 14 now and doesn't play with them, but still assembles and displays them. A nice size portion of the basement is just for their stuff and we have a area all shelved out covered in various legos. Lots of star wars.

And yes, that huge titanic set probably should be displayed tabletop. Unless you have a lot of available space it makes it difficult for a person with a "normal" home to consider it a logical purchase.

Unrelated to legos, but I went to an open house today and the place would have plenty of space to store/display stuff, including space NOT in the main areas of the house where visitors would be hanging out.

I got my son the Nintendo with the TV as an Xmas gift.

So far my favorite I have built, as far as how it looks, is the ISS set. Gonna hang it in the corner of the basement after the bar is built.

The sets with several thousand pieces can get pricey

I'll see how I to it I am after a 99 dollar one. I think I'll like it. I was going to do that or build actual RC cars. I don't think I would be into the plastic models anymore they always were do corny and cheap.

This was what I was going to try to get back into but, I just remember how cheap and tacky they were. I mean maybe being older I could do a much nicer job but, I'm not sure. I want to get into something like that. Like I mentioned to boogyman I wouldn't mind trying to build an actual RC car. I'll try a Lego kit and see how I feel about that first

Always loved legos/model cars and planes as a kid. Would have no problem putting one together as an adult, besides the lego price points. They are crazy.

Honestly, actual hardwood would be easier. The stuff I bought does not snap together well. I've done well over 500sf in a day before at work with no problem, but my tiny little 160sf living room took 10 hours and I'm going to have to rip it back up when I do the hallway that connects to it because my seems weren't tight enough

I had trouble with ours too. The smallest particle of anything in the track would keep the board from snapping in place.

Buy that still is easier than prying hardwood boards tight before you nail

My family was damn near as poor as it gets so I am straight SHOCKED how many $70-120 sets I got (combined) between Xmas and birthdays over like a 5-7 year span growing up. That’s pretty much the same price range today unless you get into the really huge/high-count sets. But a 700ish piece set costing $70 felt like the rule of thumb in the 90s and is still the same today.

they should've put that $$ towards your education.

Agreed. They spent zero dollars towards it <_<

But I’m like 18 months removed from paying off well over $100k in total student loans and being college-debt free that I overcame my bottom-end-of-the-spectrum white privilege!

Not into lego myself but I got the wife the Friends set last year. It's pride of place in our dining room but the "kids" keep picking it apart and it drives her batsht crazy. It's pretty harsh but sometimes when she goes off on them (and they rightly deny it) I'm going purple in the corner trying not to laugh my ass off. Personally, I like producing hard trance music to relax. Kinda hard when the kids are in bed though.

Go take your adult building elsewhere!

My teen son recently started watching Seinfeld since it went on Netflix and wants those sets that just came out.

I like the historical and "real" stuff myself.

@Boogyman Walmart is having great deals on Legos as of right now. Some of the kits that were on there website are a lot cheaper on Walmart.com

I'll check it out for Xmas presents for the kids (and maybe myself lol), thanks man!

No problem! Lol. I was looking for myself but, then figured I might as well pick up a set or 2 for my niece and nephew. Nephew wants the Darth Vader bust.

I came in here with full intention of teeing off on the OP, but I actually found these adult sets pretty cool.  This is pretty impressive...

I'll build it and dismantle it and build it again until I know it by heart.  Then I'll dismantle it, seal the box and give it to one of the children in my family for Christmas.  When they struggle with it I'll put it together in three minutes, shake my head at the child, point at my brother in law and yell at my sister "I TOLD YOU YOU SHOULDNT HAVE MARRIED HIM".

It will be worth every penny.

Yeah I started this thread after I realized how many adult sets they have out nowadays.

My son wants the Darth Vader bust also. As he gets older he prefers the sets that are more for display than "playing with". I am completely jealous of his bedroom, it's set up so awesome. Lucky punks these days lol.

The bust is on sale for 55 bucks at Walmart. Was going to get my niece something but, she apparently is to old for Legos... 🙄 I'm thinking of snagging the batman bust for myself

55 is a really good price for those. I think they are 70+ normally. I'll pick a few up later. Thanks again!

I can't believe a thread about building blocks actually grew legs. :o
