I thought contracts were already higher, and stand corrected. That’s how it goes though, bet if you look at it three years from now it will look cheap.

You also have to think of it in the context of the new salary cap.  It's going up $30 million in 2022 to $208 million so all the new deals that happen going forward will be substantially higher.

Around what I thought he'd get. Surprised with what little cap we have, but I guess they have a way to make it work.

Now we need to utilize him.

Cool now if he can get through a full season that would be great

It's a Howie special:

  • Has not played a full season as starter
  • Has injury concerns the last 2 years
  • Make him the 3nd highest paid TE in the league

We had > $21M in cap space available prior to executing this deal.

Wow, Dallas got that Big Deal.   Congrats Dallas.    He's grown so much over the years.

Trigger warning!

Say Congrats Goedert.

One of the few draft picks Howie has hit on, happy he is staying in the fold.

I’ve seen you say this multiple times now. We had 25-26 million for next year before the extension. Also if we restructure Brooks like we did Jeffery and designate him as a post june 1st cut we save another 13M. Before this extension that would give us 39M for 2022. We have plenty of cap space.

Liked the fact we are keeping him. Not crazy about the Price. He may not be the second best TE in the league , even though he is getting paid like one. He may ...or may not reach Ertz records. We will see if this signing will be a success...but at the end of the day...it is not a bargain. Only future will determine the answer.

I like keeping him, but for that price, c'mon bruh let's start getting some BIG numbers on a weekly basis.

Okay, so 39 million by doing that with Brooks.

Now you can remove 15 for Goedert, the roughly 15 for our first rounders alone and the 2 million increase for Mailata. Now we're down to 7 and have 19 players heading to free agency that will either need to be resigned or replaced, not too mention the rest of our draft picks.

The cap is an issue.

It’s not. Stop acting like it is set in stone.

We’ll kick it down the road, and it will keep rising like never before the next years anyways.

Ah yes, that's a recipe for success.

Kinda is for the free world, isn’t it? 😁

This was expected all along. I think the amount is the only critical point.

Meh it won't be much after a year or 2. Everyone will cry though  when he gets hurt again and again because it's more fun to get hurt trying to run through people.

Nice.  Hope he can stay healthy and put up big numbers now.  Hate that he took that helmet to helmet cheap shot spear that wasn't penalized and ignored by commentators.

So his cap hit is 3.688m this year and 3.72m next year, then 6.6m in 2023?

Damn. 👀

When Ertz was a new TE, you could see he had greatness in him. I don't see that with Goedert. He seems like an average TE to me so far. Zero wow factor.

I disagree. I really do see a wow factor. In factor I see more of a wow factor earlier on in his career than Ertz did at the same point. Goedert is more capable of getting those big chunk yards.

And that's not to say he's going to be better than Ertz by the way. Ertz is a HoF player but I do think as a TE Goedert has more potential.

Contract is worth it if Dallas can remain on the field and not miss games. He has an injury history and missed games considering he was only playing part time with Ertz being here...

Didn't the board hate Maddox like last year?

And repeatedly didn’t want to pay backs, because this was a passing league now.

I like Goedert, but I kind of feel the jury is still out, because it doesn’t feel like we have gotten a full season out of him yet. He feels a bit like Sweat to me in the sense that he’s getting a contract based on potential and not that he’s proven he can be the guy for the next 4 years.
