The Eagles right now could secure a playoff spot with a fin against Washington and losses by the 49ers and the Vikings. Potentially the Eagles could be resting their starters against the Cowboys while the Cowboys are risking theirs. If it plays out right the Eagles could have a built in bye week before the playoffs.

We have to win one of the next two games. If we beat Washington and the vikings lose to Green Bay we are in. The vikings have a weird tie break that could push us out.

With the above. We can win out and with a 49ers loss take the 6th seed. There is also a scenario where the 49ers and Eagles go 1-1 and the Saints win out that gives us the 6th seed. The only problem with the scenario is if the Vikings also win out then we get bumped entirely because of the tie breakers.

Eagles clinching scenarios, from playoffstatus.com:

"Case 1
      Eagles beat the WFT, and
Vikings lose to the Packers, and
      Saints lose to the Panthers
Case 2
      Eagles beat the WFT, and
Vikings lose to the Packers, and
      Texans lose to the Forty-Niners"

Imagine the Cowboys thinking once again this is their year, and the Eagles meet them in the playoffs with last year's 4 win team bouncing back with a rookie head coach and young QB and beat them to send them home.

This one seems much much more likely.

Yeah. What we went 4-1 and the dolphins went 6-0? And isn't Indy their division leader now? Things changed fast..

Dolphins now 7-0 and actually will make the playoffs if they win out.

If we don't play an elite QB we can win. This defense has had the luxury of playing garbage QBs for a while now so I think we forgot how terrible that side of the ball can be.

And who knows... Maybe this D is getting it together enough that they could at least somewhat limit the opposing offense to give us a chance. I'm not saying they can but we don't know because we haven't played an elite QB for a number of weeks and in the meantime this D has seemingly improved (albeit against weaker QBs).

If this offense runs the ball enough to keep those higher level passers off the field it could give them a chance. This team can run on any team.

That I do agree with. This team can run on any team as they've proven.

If they make the playoffs, the eagles need to run the ball 75% of the time......control the clock, slow the game to a crawl. Use all 4 RBs, keeping them all as fresh as possible.

High percentage passes......move the chains......slow grinding football.

Defensively, it all hinges on QB pressure.  Without it, they will get carved up.....but if they can apply pressure, blitz and force some quick throws and some mistakes....they could make a game if it.

Are both these scenarios us clinching this weekend if these things happen?

Eagles only need one of these cases to happen to clinch a Playoff spot.

Wow... case 2 seems more likely. Wow

I got the Vikings over the Packers tomorrow.  The Vikings, like their twin brothers the Chargers in the AFC, have a supernatural knack for giving the suckers who believe in them just enough air to breathe.  Packers are not really playing as well as the winning streak suggests.

Who knows how it's going to go. Looking to be coldest temperature for a game there ever. 7 degrees.

Cousins is out against Packers

Nope. 1967 it was -13 degrees.

If the weather is terrible that could be advantage Vikes again.  Cook is back and old school coaches like Zimmer tend to pull those games out over the analytics kiddies.  I dunno, my read is the Vikes tend to show up in these mid stakes/pre playoff type games and the Pack really isn't playing as well as the win streak shows.

Well I'm pulling for the Packers for two reasons. One it helps us clinch. And two I do not want the girls to get the one seed.

Cousins to the Covid list this late in the game. He’s out verses the Packers. The Skins lose Gibson too.
