Those cuts look great. Any PA butchers I should be looking into?

I actually found those at my local grocery store, Boyer's. However, if you're looking for local, the fairgrounds farmers market in reading is a solid place to look. That's where I got the pork butt I just did. There was a stand there too called smoketown meats that had some really good looking short ribs and tri tips.

I've been wanting one for a while so started looking at recipes and videos on YouTube on things people try.  I've seen people do the bacon fried corn it seems like it's a big hit.

One of the things I was looking forward to was cooking the entire meal on it.  Don't have to use different pots and pans, my kitchen is too crowded in a galley style and also less dishes to clean up.  When I made quesadillas inside I'd have to do 2 at a time and then the pan gets a little charred and the last ones get a little burnt.  This way I do them all at once since it's a big surface.

I got a burger press to make smash burgers, going to try that next.  I've also seen people make pizzas on it I might try that.  They'd have to be small to use the basting cover to get the top cooked right.  I also really like veggie and rice stir fry with any kind of meat whether chicken, shrimp or beef so that's easy and can toss it all together and throw in a serving bowl.

One of my favorite things to make on my Blackstone is Hibachi fried rice with steak and chicken.

When I make sausage and peppers, it’s awesome for doing a massive amount peppers and onions (I still like to use a traditional grill for the sausage).

Absolutely no one is surprised that you prefer sausage in your grill.

Be right back.

I make fried rice often on my Blackstone as a side.

Just got a second Traeger, the big Timberline 1300. About twice as big as the Ironwood I already had. It's going to be nice having 2 machines when we have out 3 to 4 big BBQs in the summer

Welp I kinda know where you live now lol. That being said Boyer's meats are effing terrible. I'm surprised you had a good cut there. Even the ones that look great end up like sheet.

See, I actually prefer them to giant for most things. Their meats are definitely hit or miss, but I find a lot of good cuts there at random times. I made great burnt ends from some country ribs I found there over the winter, and all of my chuck roasts have come from there. I am picky with my meats though and probably half the time I'll walk out of there with nothing

They do have fair prices for the most part. Just watch some of the cuts are cheap sheet pumped full of hormones and what not from Mexico. Depends on your meat mgr. Depending on the location you go to it's almost a certainty I know them lol.

I work in management for Boyer's for 16 yrs. Worked in all 19 locations

Just doing a little today. Hot dogs, Cod fish, and some Hamburgers.

New smoker. Timberline 1300, about twice as big as the one I have been using. Thing was a beast to assemble solo (weighs like 240lbs). Also, both us adults and the kids left a mess outside this weekend, we opened the pool and went big lol.

My smoker, grill ensemble is a mess.  Man, you really can go too long without giving it a major cleaning and it then just becomes a real daunting task.

  • 2 weeks later...

Turkey dogs, bacon, and Italian sausage will probably be grilled later this afternoon.

Hot as hell here in Delaware today. Temps in the mid-90s, sunny and no clouds or breeze. Normal temps are like low 70's. It was in the high 60's earlier in the week. Weather is crazy!!

My dog and I will be using the kiddie pool and sprinkler all day.

I'm doing the @BFit pork butt again this weekend. It is quickly becoming modern tradition!
