Had we made it competitive then perhaps the experience may have been beneficial for the young players. Not sure the experience from getting their arses handed to them was beneficial in any way and now drafting 19 instead of 12 (had we only had one additional loss). Especially when the players knew and prepared for Tampa stopping the run and making Hurts pass to keep up and there was absolutely nothing that they could do to stop it from happening. Pretty demoralizing, I'd think.

I understand both mindsets, and can’t rip anyone for their opinions. Some want to see an extra game played by their team and some want an earlier pick. I’ll admit, earlier in the season, I was in the latter mindset, but as we started winning and working our way out of the top 10, I was curious to see if our running game would be as good against a good team. I got my answer.

January 18, 20223 yr If the eagles front office didn't realize what the shortcomings and talent needs of this team was after 17 games, why would a 7th seed loss to the defending super bowl champions make them see it, regardless of the score? Hurts had a terrible game....such is life with a young QB who is still inconsistent and developing. The defense is lacking of talent......basically everywhere and everybody knew it before sunday. Everybody knew the WRs they have aren't enough. The combination of Hurts inaccuracy and Sirianni's reluctance to play anybody but smith, watkins and reagor shed even more light on the problem. Sunday didn't expose any new issues. The idiot media and fans always overreact to one game. The eagles have cap space, a load of good draft picks and trade assets..... If they draft a QB, they need to trade or cut Hurts, go with Minshew and let the kid sit, learn and develop. They need to improve the defense.....and break this idiotic habit of not drafting a LB in the 1st round. Can you imagine Parsons playing here? They need to sign, trade for or draft another WR.......if Ridley is really available and healthy, I would trade a 1st round pick for him....but Atlanta could take something less.

This FO has deluded themselves into believing we are closer to being legit contenders than we actually were in the past. Had we lost but the game been a bit more competitive, I could easily see Lurie and Howie believing we were close thinking we went 7-2 down the stretch but completely ignoring the soft schedule serving up the close loss to TB as proof.

I haven’t really heard from the FO about this, but judging by their actions at the trade deadline it doesn’t seem to me like they think they’re close. The Eagles we’re sellers and not buyers at the trade deadline.

I find that hard to believe......They've watched the inconsistencies with this team and the weaknesses. I know we all like to think we know better, but they have enough experienced coaches, scouts, personnel directors and advisors that they know exactly what they need. But because of the power structure, Howie has the final say........and I'm sure he's already made up his mind about Hurts....the question lies in what options Howie will have as to whether he gets another year to prove it or they can get an instant upgrade. Nothing was "exposed" sunday.....we all knew that Hurts still struggles when he has to win it with his arm....we all knew that if the eagles didn't run the ball, they had little chance of winning.and everybody knew Brady would shred the defense. Everybody knew the eagles needed more defensive talent....and WRs.....
January 19, 20223 yr Yes, made it very obvious Hurts is not the guy. How do you not pick apart 2 DTs in coverage?

Many have been saying this for years, unfortunately dumbarse doesn't know what puts Lombardi's in the trophy case. They want the Westbrooks, McCoys, and Sanders, not that there's anything wrong with that type of RB but you need chain moving powerback also. Ask KC how the little backs have worked out for them when they needed protect a lead by chain moving time possession powerback, oh right, they didn't have one. Anyhow, two RBs in this year's draft that will fit the bill are Tyrion Davis-Price (LSU) 6'1'' 232, a downhill locomotive, and Dameon Pierce (Florida), 5'9'', 220, a powerful multi-talented back.

Jordan Howard: 6'0" 225 lbs Not sure if they will retain him - I kinda hope they do as I think they can get him for a 1 year minimal deal. But I would also draft another that would be on an even cheaper rookie contract and under control for 4 years. Howard would serve as an insurance policy.

I want to revisit Dameon Pierce, dude squats 700+ lbs, has the hands of a receiver, and I was watching some Barry Sanders highlights recently and I thought how Pierce has a touch of Barry Sanders in him, dude has excellent vision and that makes for an excellent runner.

Take Dameon Pierce, the story on him is he'll do whatever is asked of him but it seems like his running style is that of a open field runner. I think Tyrion Davis-Price may last until round 5, if Pierce he had elite speed he wouldn't last past round 3, he may be there as late as the 4th and I wouldn't pass on him there, I'd love for the Eagles to get both of them.
February 26, 20223 yr Embarrassed? Embarrassed would be being the #2 seed and losing to the #7 seed at home. Just being the #7 seed, which should not even exist, should be embarrassing enough. But losing to the #2 seed as the #7 seed isn't embarrassing. It's expected.

February 26, 20223 yr maybe it’s a cop out but i still wonder how the game would have went if it wasn’t for that awful call on barnett that kept that first drive alive.

March 4, 20223 yr Making the playoffs is never a bad thing. I think it opened the eyes of Howie realizing his team isn’t a quarterback away and only fools think this. It also gave some of the young guys a taste of that playoff atmosphere. Funny though how in 2019 we had similar conversations about the Eagles making the playoffs and if they should. Certain people around here Syreeta were adamant that a certain player needed that playoff experience! Now they’re acting so different. I wonder what changed? Spoiler
