Like Imp said.... spend the extra $$$ and get the Genesis. Much higher quality. The only reason you shouldn't get a Genesis over a Spirit is if you need something smaller, IMO. It works great and is still in great condition despite being stored outside (typically covered but not always) year round. From everything I've read and heard from friends it is worth the extra $$$ to step up to a Genesis rather than buying a Spirit even it means getting used. Genesis are made in USA (or at least they were until recently) whereas Spirit are made in China and are generally lower quality. Are side burners worth it or nah?

Our old grill was cheap and the side burner was terrible and made the pots all black so we never used it. The Weber side but we works great and doesn't blacken the pots at all so we use it occasionally. Don't use it all that often, but it is nice to have it when you want to use it. My next gas grill will have a side burner again, but before I got the Weber I really didn't care if it had one or not based on experience with the old grill.

May 9, 20205 yr Author I like the side burner for when you're grilling dinner and want to heat up a side dish like baked beans or something.
May 9, 20205 yr IMO, when it comes to buying a grill, same rule as buying a mattress apply; buy the best one that you can afford. If you have a good grill, you’ll use it more. Don’t get caught up in the flashy extras, and mind your BTU’s! (I know I said to not get caught up in the flashy stuff, but, a nice add-on is a rotisserie.)
May 9, 20205 yr there is a blackstone griddle that comes with a side deep fryer. Thats probably more useful than a burner. Im probably going to try making bacon in the air fryer on sunday. well see how it goes. Im excited for what I expect to be perfectly evenly cooked bacon.
May 9, 20205 yr Thanks gents. I'm going with the Genesis E-315 and think will get a quality BBQ grill mat instead of a side burner.
May 9, 20205 yr I hear side burners are great for starting a charcoal chimney when you want to grill like a real man

You are going to love it. When we sold our place in CO we packaged the grill in. It was 7 year old and like I said, I used it a TON. His reaction wasn't "oh, you are pawning your old grill off on me", rather was extremely happy it was included.

May 20, 20205 yr I didnt see/remember... did you get the spirit or the genisis? Also, how do you like it so far?

Even cooking, reaches temperature quickly, and has enough grill space to cook a variety of things at once. Side burner would have been nice, but doubt I would have used it a lot.

And I bolded even cooking. That is why I loved my old Genesis so much that schmoopie surprised me with a new one when we moved to PA. (She even had her dad put in a natural gas line in while I was away) It was so damn consistent that I had certain "recipes" (for lack of a better term) that I would make on the grill and not even need to check. Get grill to X degrees and leave meat on for Y minutes flipping at Z. Perfect each time.

May 23, 20205 yr So I just picked up a 2 inch thick bone-in ribeye from my butcher. How long in the microwave so you think this thing needs?
