I was merely responding to this post.  It was obviously clear that the shooter was a POC based on the fact that you started the thread.

I disagree, I think the shooter intended to divide and conquer, or at the very least, become an addition to the long list of mass shooters in recent years. Not to subtract from the discussion on how common these incidents are.

But the election of DeBlasio was a serious setback - during Bloomberg and Giuliani, the city (at least Manhattan) was incredibly safe at all hours. The new DA is a debacle, similar to other large cities (LA, SF, Philly).

Was just over a decade ago but the wife and I walked from our hotel in the fashion district to 30 rock at 4am so we could get in line for the today show. Never felt safer and I remember thinking "This city's rep is way worse than reality." Not only was it safe, but locals were much nicer and friendlier than advertised.
