October 12, 20205 yr So I've always had some form of Xbox. Initially because of Halo when I was a kid but now kind of out of habit. I don't play online, just use it for streaming apps and 1 person games to kill time. The controller design doesn't bother me at all. That being said I'm thinking of making the change. As long as it can play Hulu/Netflix etc it seems as if the PS5 has a better selection of single player exclusive games (last of us, ghost of tsushima, God of war etc) which seem more up my alley than Halo/Gears of War at this point. I like the occasional FPS (love love loved DOOM) but overall more of a Witcher/Mass Effect/Fallout kind of gamer at this stage of my life. Any advice? Pros/cons?

I'd probably buy PS5 for their exclusives if it wasn't for Halo on xbox and playing that with my buddies I grew up with. The Playstation exclusives for single player games are just so much better. Although the Bethesda purchase may change that in the future I guess.

If Skyrim/Fallout/Wolfenstein/Doom became XBox exclusive going forward that would definitely change things.

Yeah its a tough call for sure. Id say even still, PS probably overall has the better exclusives even without Bethesda, but Elder Scrolls is so great by itself it may make it worth going xbox. Your best bet is to just buy scratch off lottery tickets and hopefully win 500 bucks and then just buy both consoles.

I bought a Switch pretty much just for Zelda. I don't have as strong a nostalgia for the Elder Scrolls but it's damn close. Maybe I'll hold off until I see what happens with the Bethesda titles. Just suck it up and play Cyberpunk and Halo on the XBox One until I see how things shake out.

Though I can't say FO4 (or even the debacle of 76 which I never even played) left me feeling like the franchise was headed in the right direction.

Pros are PlayStation and cons are Xbox. My advice is spend your money on the pros.

Yeah it was definitely a step back from New Vegas, and 76 was clearly just a cash grab and I never bothered. I'll give the next real one a shot but it may be my last one. Unless they try to pull some BS loot box nonsense. Skyrim and Wolfenstein hold a lot more sway over me right now. I'm an idiot with a Mac so playing on my computer ain't an option unfortunately.

The time from when legit FO4 rumor began circulating to when it finally released was around 3 years I think.

(I'm not good at metaphors)

But yeah it just depends on your preferences ultimately. Worst case, you just sell the PS5 and buy an XSX once xbox starts to get more of the exclusives you like.

I wouldn't worry about that for awhile. I think if Xbox was really hell bent on making all those games exclusive they would be screaming off the roof tops that they are making them all exclusives people that love those games would definitely buy an xbox then . So the fact that they have not even hinted at them becoming exclusives I don't think they will right away. Microsoft owns other game developers and still sell them across all platforms.

I don’t know what PC sales look like, but as long as they continue selling their consoles at a 1:3 clip versus what sony moves, that money they spent won’t allow them to make exclusive games because selling 2M copies versus 8M is going to be a significant amount of money

They didn't get to be worth trillions of dollars by not maximizing an investment. Like you said putting those games on all platforms is what gets back their return on investment. I was watching a video of comparisons of how much microsoft paid for Bethesda compared to like what disney paid for star wars franchise. It was crazy how much microsoft paid for that! I don't think microsoft worries about exclusives that isn't their bread and butter.
October 13, 20205 yr *I'm still waiting for someone to offer me monies for any of my extra PS5s and XBox Series S/Xs....

I wonder if i put a live auction up at list price (factoring sales tax and ebay seller fees) if it would start getting hits, or if it would be like how I buy things, where you throw your most comfortable price at it 45 seconds before the auction ends In the 90s and early-to-mid 2000's the auction prices would go up continuously day after day... but not anymore I don't think? I guess people can put in a Reserve Limit still? Haven't ebay'd in probably 5 years now...
October 15, 20205 yr I'm loving this! For all you gaymers that do COD, this pinned shared screen of your COD/Battlefield/etc teammate might actually be a solid way to keep tabs on one another while playing
