June 30, 20224 yr Extensions - We resigned Mailata, Goedert and Maddox in season last year. Each was going to be a free agent. All of the following are free agents except Slay. If we get our own guys extended/resigned we can start to wean ourselves off of the free agent merry go round and get back to receiving comp picks for the players we lose to other teams. CB Bradberry - My highest priority for an extension. I just don't want to go into another offo-season not knowing who our starting corner might be. DT Hargrave. Both Cox and Hargrave are free agents. I'd be ok with Jordan Davis and Milton being our starters BUT depth is a key and that puts Hargrave high on the extension list. I agree with the conventional wisdom that Fletcher Cox is in his last year with the Eagles. S Epps, Harris, and Tartt. Surprise! No one think highly of any of our safeties, but like CB I just don't think it's a good idea starting an off-season without any starter quality safeties on the roster. I don' tlike Harris, but one ot both of the others is on my to do list. LB White, Edwards - Our linebacker room is finally legitimate. Let's keep one of these guys. CB Slay - he's not a free agent but it's important to keep him and heep him happy for another couple of year. Trade possibilities - QB Minshew. Sure the Eagles want a quality backup and ther are two starting QB's availalbe in Mayfield and Goropolo. But, If someone has in-season injuries AND if Carson Strong looks legitimate a trade would be a consideration. If we don't trade him he'll be signed in free agency. So, either way we get a third day pick in 2023 (trade) or 2024 (freee agent loss). T Dillard. He's a starting caliber left tackle and certainly not worse thn 32 others. Watch the Colts. They are starting Matt Pryor (remember him) and his back up is rookie 2nd round pick Bernard Raimann. Outside shot at a second day pick. Like Minshew he'll be a gone if he hits the free agent market. G Seumalo - some team would likely have to have a raft of interior line injuries for this to happen. If he doesn't get traded there is still the possibility that the Eagles resign him in the off-season. Otherwise he'll be a freee agent loss next off-seaosn and replaced by Opeta or Awisoka. (coverered all the bases on him, didn't I?) Re-sign in off-season- WR Pascal, Nick's favorite . If he's a nice fit and fairly productive as our 4th WR he'll be resigned. RB Scott. Apparently he's year to year, but he's a valuable guy and the front office knows it. Plus, if we plan on losing Sanders adding tow running backs would be problematic. G Opeta. Destined for the 2022 practice squad he'll be re-signed if Seumalo moves elsewhere and if someone doesn't sign him off our PS in season Will be lost in 2023 free agency RB Sanders. If he has a good year the Eagles won't be willing to pay what other teams are. If he has a mediocre or poor year we won't want him back. DE Barnett. They brought him back for some reason this year. The same circumstances that apply to Sanders apply to him. DT Cox if he doesn't retire S -whomever we don't resign among Epps, Tartt, or Harris. 2023 free agents who will not make the team this year - WR Ward TE JJAW 2023 retirements - C Kelce DE Graham DT Cox if he doesn't sign elsewhere.
June 30, 20224 yr I think it's premature until we see how players actually perform this season, however I mostly agree with your assessment. The O linemen you always want to see how injuries and performance of the new guys work out so 1 or both of those guys could be retained if needed. Barnett has a chance to prove himself after being humbled being signed as a backup. If he does better in that role they might keep him especially if they're not sure they will get that depth in the draft and not want to have a big need there. I was hoping they'd get a DE in this last class which had a lot of talent and they're going to need to target a starting quality DE next year either high in the draft or if a trade/free agent is available.

Plus unlike Sanders they have Barnett under contract at a reasonable cost if they want him next year. If he plays well he stays at least another year.

As much as we can't stand him for the penalties and mistakes, moving to a cheap depth role if he does well there it would make sense to retain him since he knows the system. However, with BG almost certainly retiring after this season they've got to get a new starting DE opposite Sweat. I love BG but once you get to his age and miss an entire season for injury you're basically getting a player on the decline who likely will miss games. So need to be ready to replace him, which is why drafting a DE this year would have been great with this class but oh well.
July 1, 20224 yr I'd be hesitant to re-sign Hargrave. He will be 30 years old heading into free agency next year and will likely command some big money. Instead of tying big money into a player on the wrong side of 30 let him walk and recoup the comp pick.

If he wants that kind of money he can walk.
July 1, 20224 yr I have a feeling Graham will come back reasonably strong this year and want to play for awhile. He has the attitude of those guys who play until they’re like 38

He’s a good starter when healthy, could play center in a bind and I don’t think he will demand a top 10 guard price tag to resign.

However, we will likely need to prioritize a starting DE in the offseason next year.

Kelce got choked up talking about his injury last year. But a lot of fans are also gun shy when it comes to players with injury histories. I'm glad he's still on the roster and hope he can stay healthy all year. I think he's a Pro Bowl G if he stays healthy this season.

Hopefully Hurts does show out so that we can spend our multiple firsts elsewhere. 2 DEs in the first would be pretty stout.

They have a 3rd and 1st round pick in Milton Williams and Jordan Davis. The hope is that Noah Ellis develops in to a solid DT3 or DT4. If he does, you can always sign a FA or find depth in the drat. The money that Hargrave is going to command+ the recent draft investment makes it IMO a no brainer that it's time to move on from him.

He's going on 29 and the Eagles have the best OL coach in the league who can coach up the UDFA investments the Eagles have made the last few years. They also have Cam Jurgens who could plug in at RG as a rookie or maybe, and it's a big maybe, they can get Dillard to play RG. He's a starting guard in the NFL but he is 100% replaceable and not worth his contract.

I think cap hit wise it wouldn't have made sense for them to trade him during the season last year. They could do so now without cap penalties but they are also looking like a contending team right now so makes more sense to just hold onto him at this point and then hope he scores a big deal elsewhere. But yeah, I think a starting pair of Davis and Milton Williams will be good enough to get the job done in 2023 while they continue to add more young cheap talent at DT behind them.

I was hoping for that too. They had the perfect case study of what happens when you have an older, declining DT on a big contract in Fletcher Cox. Hargrave isn't the freak athlete that Cox is and I think his decline will be sharp. He's a pudgy guy and once he loses that quick step he's not going to be effective. I have the feeling they sign him to an extension though unfortunately.
July 3, 20224 yr Graham has all but stated he’s playing next season, but he’s not sure if that will be with the Eagles. Kelce hasn’t exactly said he’s retiring either. He said he’s going to play as long as he enjoys it. Some team is going to give Cox another contract. Probably the Eagles.

That Dawkins situation really messed with Luries head cause now he is hanging on too long to some of these guys. Kelce has been playing at a high level but, the other 2 are declining rapidly.

At least with (the three guys mentioned ) they have tried to draft their replacements. After Dawkins the team was basically scrambling.

July 4, 20224 yr I know it won't be popular but I could see them trading Sanders during TC and rolling with Gainwell/Scott.

I don't think anyone is terribly excited about Sanders and want to keep him. If he can net any value in a trade go for it. RB is pretty much the easiest position to replace. I just worry about depth, so need another RB perhaps someone acquired during preseason cuts.

That being said, Sanders is still one of the biggest home run threats on the team.

Isn’t it kind of hard to claim that Sanders is a home run threat when he had zero touchdowns last year and has only 11 for his career so far? I get it though. He has at time had some breakaway runs, but his overall lack of closing prevents me from calling him a true home run threat.
July 7, 20224 yr This idea that teams are knocking down the Eagles door cause they can’t wait to get their hands on Minshew is just silly. He had little to no trade value when he was traded to the Eagles and now he’s done little to nothing to improve that. Every team knows exactly what he is and he’s basically a dime a dozen backup.
