August 3, 20223 yr Should the U.S. and Pelosi have backed down once China started amping up the threats? Of course not. Was it prudent for her to go there in the first place. No. This is the highest level visit in 25 years at a time when things are very tense.

Go check out the video on Twitter that I posted earlier. It's an interesting three minute view. The main reason that China hasn't invaded in over 70 years is geographic, combined with military risks. It's an EXTREMELY difficult military exercise against a heavily armed opponent. China can't just march troops into Taiwan - it has to conduct an amphibious invasion and Taiwan is armed with weaponry that could make this a disastrous undertaking from a military perspective for China. If you studied WWII, its analogous, not the same but analogous to the reasons why Hitler didn't invade Switzerland. If Germany could have gotten away with doing so cleanly, it would have invaded. But it would have been very difficult from both a geographic and military perspective.
