Biden said shoot it down. Trump said shoot it down. When they are both saying the same thing maybe it's obvious what should happened, but the military is like nah....it's cool. And how the hell did it get to Montana? They are the guy in the hallway in Austin Powers watching the steamroller come at him. Nobody in the military was like maybe we should take this out before it gets over land? What a cluster.

I trust the military more than Trump or Biden... They have other options

It flew over Alaska and came down over Canada. Very sparsely populated and balloons aren’t exactly glowing on radar.

I wonder if the decision not to shoot it down was a fear that it has some kind of ELINT capability.

What time does the balloon go up?

It's obviously just an early Valentines present to Swalwell from Feng Feng.

Gonna go over the rust belt and people for sure going to try to shoot it down

Route it over Chicago, it won't last 5 minutes.

Someone photoshop this picture to have the balloon pulling a banner, like an advertising plane at the beach, that says "Eric, I miss you! Love Feng Feng."  Please?

We could capture this if we wanted. So must not be to concerning, but it makes a good propaganda story.

As a rule of thumb we shouldn't let spy balloons over our country without doing something. That's not propaganda.

Some publisher is going to have an accident for interrupting that transfer.

That’s not it. It’s not over Montana anymore. You can see approximately where it’s at by where the RC-135 is at that’s trailing it over on ADSB exchange.

There might be some issues in shooting it down because it might be an ELINT surveillance platform, or we just might not be able to. Modern radar guided missiles are designed to not be fooled by chaff, and they recognize chaff because it doesn’t really move comparative to an airframe, and this balloon isn’t really motoring.

It's a balloon, dude. We don't need missiles to drop it.

It’s at 60,000 feet. You kinda do because guns aren’t going to get to that altitude, and even if they could it’s not going to pop and fly around like a Looney Tunes cartoon.

The U.S. Navy shot down a satellite in space using a missile. It should be able to shoot down the balloon. Why not just use an airborne laser.

Nor will the planes.
