You know it's coming. Housing, cars, food, all subsidized by tax dollars. Shoplifting and riots are allowed because inequality, hotels forced to give rooms to homeless...wait, some of those are already happening.

If you’re buying a car with a loan with interest you’re one of the poors.  Buy a new car with zero interest, dummies

0% interest just means that the interest was baked into the price of the car.... And that you probably suck at negotiating and overpaid.

The bank always gets paid.

It's almost like Elizabeth Warren/Bernie Sanders have already been elected...

This is the same state that is mulling the idea of banning Teslas.

Now mind you its because of self drive issues, but it stands to show they really dont have much of a handle on the big picture.

...... and if those idiots really think that this will stop residents from buying new gas powered vehicles, they're dumber than we thought.

If they offer incentives that make electric vehicles and gas powered vehicles relatively the same price then more people will start to buy electric vehicles.  That’s how I see this going anyway.

It really depends. You can certainly structure a deal with higher purchase price to get a 0% note that has the same effective monthly payment as a lower purchase price with a >0% rate.

Regardless, many (most? I’m not sure) people don’t drive their cars enough to really justify buying anyway. Unless you’re holding for like 10+ years and driving well over 100K miles, you’re probably better off leasing anyway once you factor in maintenance, opportunity cost, hassle, etc.

Pretty much the only reason to buy a car is if it’s something like a truck you use for work utility or a potential classic you can keep on low miles that will actually appreciate over the long run. For the average daily driver, just lease. Lower monthly payments, less in maintenance, and you get a new car every few years all with the option to buy if you really want to do so.

I lease every car. It's a free put option and I like to get a new car every 3 years anyway.

No..... It's exactly how it works....

But what do I know?  I've just been working in Corporate Sales for the past 15 years and negotiate deals similar to this on a weekly basis....

Apparently you don’t know what your own link says. How 0 percent works. And I’m gonna go out on a limb saying you suck at negotiating.

He’s definitely not talking about paying more or over sticker to get 0 percent.

If you leased a car before the pandemic, you are sitting pretty right now. My mileage is way under and the blue book value is way over the residual value on the lease.

If you get enough of the population on EVs, gas stations will become more rare than charging stations are today.  That would be the real deterrent
