While it looks like the 2023 will have an LFP battery and are doing a Night Pony package, we really did have our hearts set on the ice white which is only 2022. Plus the 2023 is jumping up between $3,200 and $8,675 (but we may receive a private price offer of something similar to what we were quoted if we convert to 2023) and the $$$ limit on the new EV law would keep us from getting our rebate. So best to get our original one now before years end

The way an automaker makes money with a 0% deal is simple: The money does not get made on financing but rather the car itself. Dealers will try to sell you extras to make up the difference, including extended warranties for your vehicle. Also, the cost of financing gets built into the price of the car. If you obtain a 0% financing car deal, you likely will not get any other incentives on top of that. And that means the automaker still pockets a nice profit on the sale of the car despite not making any profit on the financing.
August 27, 20223 yr As more and more electric vehicles are on the road, the price should drop. This is like starting from scratch for auto companies. They are going to sell hundreds of millions of new electric vehicles. Another great boost to the economy long term. Should help to create tens of thousands of new jobs as well. Subsides from the Infrastructure package can be use to put electric charging stations everywhere. More jobs. There will be subsidies to buy electric vehicles helping to lower the price even more. No else sees the emerging market as a positive? Rock on Brandon live from California.

He bought it for the lowest price that he had found in all of that time of shopping around and negotiating fully intending to pay cash for it. The only reason he financed it was because they offered free financing so it worked out better for him to leave his $$$ invested and pay off the loan with disposable income over the course of a year or two. His experience certainly does not match the claim that the cost of zero percent financing is built into the price of the vehicle. In fact, his salesman actually pushed him to look at the financing and he talked it over with his financial planner to confirm the salesman’s claims before signing the loan. So I assume the dealership was getting some kind of kickback from the lending institution or something.

Dealerships will always try to sell the vehicle at the highest price they can, while still trying to sell warranties on every car. Selling stuff at the highest price possible is how they make money.

No else sees the emerging market as a positive? Rock on Brandon live from California. No..... New jobs ? Sure..... to replace the jobs that go away due to need, certain parts built for gas powered cars will have little to no demand...... those displaced workers will then need to learn new skills and find jobs that will benefit ev's. Cause and effect...... big picture man. Subsidies will go away as the demand increases. The govt. Will not pay for everyone to get an ev car unless taxes are raised to a near riot inducing amount. Finally going back to the lunacy of california's brainiacs........ that states electric grid is already overburdened. The demand will crush them unless the can supply more juice to these new charging stations. So apparently some of my federal taxes in the future will go to help a state govt. that cannot think things through...... sometimes it makes me thankful that I only have so many years left.
August 27, 20223 yr Another question that’s going to need to get figured out as more and more EVs get on the road, is how are we going to fund transportation infrastructure? Gas taxes currently fund transportation infrastructure. And we’ve already seen issues with funding as increasing fuel economies result in less gas tax revenue. But as more and more people own EVs, this doesn’t just decrease gas tax revenue, it brings it down to 0. We’re going to have to find a new way to replace gas taxes in order fund infrastructure. Maybe an increase in sales tax to offset the reduction/elimination of the gas tax?

First off, the 0% financing in this situation IS the incentive to buy… so no, multiple incentives aren’t going to be offered at the same time very often. Second, if you’re buying a new vehicle with any incentive put in place, the dealer will rarely budge on the purchase price. They may offer you more for a trade in or give you a free factory upgrade, maybe tack a small rebate on top of another incentive, but the purchase price on the paperwork doesn’t change on new vehicles because they’re set by the corporate distributor.

There's MSRP, Sticker Price, Invoice Price and the actual cost. (Invoice price minus rebates and hold backs) Probably not in today's market, but I've bought cars well below sticker price plenty of times. There are entire message boards and reddit pages where people share their deals

Just like dealers have been doing with diesel and gas powered vehicles for decades… now electric vehicles also.
