He's better than a lot of people give him credit for and could have been a really useful rotation piece this year. Yes - our pass rush may go from bad to worse just in time for the Vikings. 20 minutes ago, jsdarkstar said: Clearly, April 2023 draft, DE will be a top need. You aren’t kidding.
September 12, 20223 yr Sad for him as this could be potentially career ending. Think he gets another shot, but who knows.
September 12, 20223 yr No loss on the production side, just a depth loss. Howie will fill the void. Hope he recovers fully and goes to another team and has a million penalties. Appears to be another 1st round swing and a miss draft pick.

I was thinking earlier today that two DE's would turn an average defense into one of the best defenses. Graham is about spent and Sweat has been a disappointment, since the Eagles desperately need DE's you can bet Howie will ignore them in the '23 draft just as he's done with the secondary.

He had the strip sack in the NFCCG and the huge fumble recovery in the SB so for that alone I won't say complete miss. But pretty much other than that

If all we got out of him was the 2017 NFCCG and the Super Bowl, I'll count it as being less than a miss. You want more out of a 1st round pick, of course. But in the case of our first ever Lombardi (trophy, we already owned the real Lombardi from 1960), I won't be too pissed that the rest of has career didn't pan out. Disappointed, but not overly upset. Just now, pgcd3 said: He had the strip sack in the NFCCG and the huge fumble recovery in the SB so for that alone I won't say complete miss. September 12, 20223 yr With as poor as the dline played we should put Milton Williams at DE to have a bigger line and maybe stop a RB.
September 12, 20223 yr Don’t wish ill on him but this isn’t a big loss. All he’s ever done is have bone head penalties anyways.

That was our first draft with Joe "Draft Guru" Douglas. I remember that draft thread. TATE was hyping up every pick like Joe Douglas was King Midas. Good times. 1 Derek Barnett 2 Sidney Jones 3 Rasul Douglas 4 Mack Hollins 4 Donnell Pumphrey 5 Shelton Gibson 5 Nathan Gerry 6 Elijah Qualls

Sweat is ok, we like Graham but his age and recent injury are a concern. This should have been a year for a draft pick to train under BG the way Davis will replace Cox. We will take a DE in probably the 1st round, definitely by round 2 next April

It’s unfortunate he got injured, but frankly his money should have been used on a different player.
September 12, 20223 yr I feel bad for Derek. However, if you said we had to lose 1 regular players to injury….

That could have been Von Miller, Khalil Mack, Chandler Jones, or Robert Quinn
September 13, 20223 yr Von Miller looked like he was slowly losing his edge but seems to be back in top form this season.
September 13, 20223 yr I’m excited for Tarron Jackson and look forward to seeing him improve our D Line. oh and…….yea.., terrible news about Barnett …. Yea yea…. damn shame about that ….um hmm.

September 13, 20223 yr I never wanted him resigned. He has been a bust for where he was picked. Never showed at any time he could be a top 15 DE. Godspeed in his recovery.
