the WC cops don't appreciate coke dealers on campus, at least not back in the late 80s.

It's a nice campus - I went to HS in West Chester and the town itself is really nice especially now with a great bar and restaurant scene.  My cousin's son is a Freshmen there.  It's an average school. Obviously not a top school, but it's decent for a public school especially if in-state as I don't think the tuition is crazy. And of course it depends on what you want to study.  Chester County is beautiful and just far enough away from the city and the nastier parts of Delco. The biggest issue some might face is trying to get to the city from West Chester.  I think there is a SEPTA bus, but the regional rail isn't super accessible without a car if that's important to the student at all.

Theres a new pizza place in West Chester called "Pizza" which is supposedly amazing. Haven't tried it yet.

thanks for the info!  i've been reading some reviews..."average" & "decent" seem accurate.

it's cheap...and i'm sure that's why my babymomma mentioned it as a possibility. college shopping with the involvement of a moron ex is about as fun as it sounds.

anyway...thanks again!

A friend of mine from high school went there back in the early 2000’s. I haven’t really kept in touch with her the last 15 years or so, but from what I remember she liked it there. She commutes from her parents house in Berks County.

You’re welcome for the very detailed information that I’m sure has been incredibly helpful.

jakes bar is where the cheap beer and locals are. the sidewalks are very uneven and difficult to walk on in the ice after 24 beers. its possible to puke at the bar, walk away and then walk back up to the bar and get a drink, while complaining that someone puked at the bar. you meet some interesting characters at the 7/11 outside of town at 3am. if your friend wanders into a open building at 2am, trying to pee, theres a chance its a sting operation and he maybe be detained by the WCPD. theres an old guy on north(?) st named doc irv. he makes really good sour dough pancakes and custom fishing lures.

any other questions?

I’m an alumni of 2001.  I commuted.  Loved my time there.  Spent a lot of time on campus even though I commuted.  They built all new dorms over the last 10 years and have off campus housing options through wcu foundation.  The Rec center is awesome. That was built in 2012 so it’s a bit dated but plenty of programs and fitness space.  Was mostly known as a school for education majors, which still is true but they now have a new sciences lab that offers more for health/nursing/bio majors. Most of the campus take up a couple blocks so it’s easy to get around. There are plenty of frats and sororities if the kid is looking for that.  Bars and restaurants are plentiful and walking distance.  The downside if there is one is that it could be considered crowded for the size of the campus.  Probably close to 15,000 undergrad students. UD for comparison is 23,000 on a much larger campus.

it’s a school I would look at for my kids for sure.  If you’re in state it’s pretty affordable.  Out of state not so much.

I went to a party there in 1994.  It was a beach themed party and these idiots carted in a shitton of sand and put it in the basement.

It's the best of all the PA state schools, and it's a great town. Housing is expensive, but that's true everywhere. My youngest graduated from there last year.

Yeah - K-town is mostly Education, Art, Business Admin/Management, Criminal Justice, and whatever TV Production is called there now...  Like all the PA state schools, its a good place to get a quick/lower cost BS or BA before hitting a grad school too.
