Great trade.  Further evidence of the enormous value of having the QB on a rookie deal.  Not paying your rising star quarterback $40 million a year (yet) creates all kinds of possibilities like this.

I know it's probably not gonna happen. But I'm hoping Hurts takes a page out of the TB12 playbook and not ask for max contract. I'm hoping he realizes it's better to surround yourself with help. But that's a different thread. Lol

I like the move but RIP our cap if we're planning on keeping him past this year. More dead money!

They're going all in for a championship, why not they're 6-0 with a favorable schedule.  Howie will always figure out the contracts.  There are extensions where he spreads out the cap impact, renegotiated contracts where money gets moved to a signing bonus, some guys will walk in free agency and they'll use the draft picks to replace.  The dead money has been a problem but he's mostly fixed his mistakes from prior years.

Cox will be gone, BG might retire, Kelce might retire especially if they win the SB he'll go out on top.

Exactly.  Pass rushers close out games.  This is exactly why he's brought here, to close out himself or allow his peers on the line to feast.  Great trade.

First, he has to marry an international supermodel with a net worth of almost $400 million...

It's remarkable all around.  The Bears are eating most of his 2022 salary and the Eagles can walk away at any time.  My guess is they'll restructure - he had 18.5 sacks just last year - but this is Howie at his best.

TB12 gonna make more money as an announcer than his whole career. And this is a QB that been to 10 SB and won 7 of them lol

Bears are paying most of salary which is good for other extensions.

4th is fine with me to try to win this year.  Worry about what Quinn has left but worth a shot

Same here. Leaving them with 2 1sts (including a very high pick from New Orleans),  a 2nd, a 3rd and 2 7ths.  Don't be surprised if Howie doesn't spin someone off in the next few days before the deadline to pick up a couple of 3rd - 5ths as well.

Good trade especially if this revitalizes Quinn

Dillard hopefully

That makes sense. Don't really watch the Bears. Don't know how good their DLine is. If he was the only threat that's usually  what happens. Can't do that here.

He feasted opposite Khalil Mack last season. Mack is feasting himself with the Chargers this season, but it left Quinn all alone. They lost a bunch on that Bears Dline this past off-season.

@VaBeach_Eagle will appreciate bringing up the music version of this

Yeah really like this move. Not really shown up this year, at least with sacks, but we don’t get this kind of deal if he has. Can keep all the DEs fresh now. Hopefully has a Chris Long type impact!

This is massive. We probably could have gotten him for less than a 4th, but Howie bought cap space too

Bears send Robert Quinn to Eagles

Posted by Mike Florio on October 26, 2022, 4:07 PM EDT

It’s Dream Team, Part Two.

As the 6-0 Eagles emerge from their bye, they’re doing it with a new addition at pass rusher. Per multiple reports, the Bears are trading Robert Quinn to the Eagles.

Quinn set a team record with 18.5 sacks in 2021. He has one sack through seven games in 2021.

Quinn has a salary of $12.8 million this year. He’s signed through 2024, at salaries of $13.9 million in 2023 and $12.9 million in 2024.

The Bears reportedly weren’t "actively shopping” Quinn in the offseason. Apparently, some passive shopping has recently occurred, and the Bears continue to tear it down (in the aftermath of a signature win) and the Eagles keep trying to build it up.

Was there a corresponding move announced to free up a roster spot or were we sitting at 52?

Definitely an upgrade from Barnett.  This was a no brainer for a 4th.

Also, if he produces this season and the Eagles let him walk, we will get a decent comp pick.  So, very little downside here.

Howie kicks ass again.

Howie you crazy wizard!

F yeah!

TATE is losing its touch... no mention yet of...

Can't believe they traded a draftpick when they have 17 free agents including 10 starters and a big contract coming for Hurts.

Do we even have 13 M$? And for how much did we get him?

32 isn't really young either...

Bears are most of the contract
