Could give us a really nice rotation there.

November 23, 20222 yr Obviously it is good to have him back healthy. The thing is the team played 5 DTs last week. Davis will be the 6th DT if all are dressed. Who get to sit out a game or two? Or they have to look into other positions to get the active players count in line. No argument on keeping everyone fresh by rotation. But 6 DTs is a HUGE load.
November 30, 20222 yr Author Good news - Jordan Davis is back at practice. Looks like he'll be back for the Titans game. Would be nice if we get Maddox back for the following game. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/11/30/jordan-davis-set-to-return-to-practice-for-eagles/ Jordan Davis set to return to practice for Eagles Posted by Josh Alper on November 30, 2022, 10:40 AM EST NFL: OCT 30 Steelers at Eagles Eagles rookie defensive tackle Jordan Davis is set to start working his way back into the lineup. The Eagles announced that the first-round pick has been designated to return from injured reserve. Davis can begin practicing with the team on Wednesday and could be activated to play against the Titans this weekend. Davis has missed the last four games with an ankle injury. He started five of the first seven games of the season and has 14 tackles on the year. The Eagles defensive line looks very different than it did when Davis was placed on injured reserve. Veterans Linval Joseph and Ndamukong Suh have joined Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, and Milton Williams to give them enviable depth on the interior. In addition to the Davis move, the Eagles announced they have released defensive tackle Marvin Wilson from the practice squad and signed wide receiver Auden Tate, wide receiver Kawaan Baker, and offensive lineman Tyrese Robinson to the practice squad.
November 30, 20222 yr I'm glad he is back and I'm sure they know what they are doing (hopefully), but I wonder if another week or two wouldn't be good for it? I'd rather have him as healthy as possible going into the playoffs and not injure it again.
November 30, 20222 yr Risk injury vs Titans vs being ready for playoff run, hope they make the right decision.

The Eagles will not risk JD's long term health by bringing him back too soon.

We have to also hope they score early to go ahead and the Titans have to rely a bit more on passing to catch up.
December 3, 20222 yr These are little kids: These are grown men: When a grown man decides he's good to go, other grown men need to stop biting their nails.
December 3, 20222 yr Sure enough, with Davis coming back, they sit Quinn for the Titans game. Nevertheless, 6 DTs will be a large number and they could rotate them on every snap if needed.

December 3, 20222 yr If the doctors say he can play, then he should play in some capacity. This team only has a one-game lead for a bye, so there's plenty on the line worth playing for.

December 3, 20222 yr I would let him be out another week, we need to beat dallas on christmas eve, more than the titans

Missing the point. It isn't about what the player says... its about what the doctors say. Because there's too much money involved... too many lawyers... and too much machismo rather than rational thought..

Its called a non sequitur. Someone had a cheese sandwich yesterday is exactly as relevant as Tuagate is to Jordan Davis tomorrow.

I never made any comment about Davis coming back one way or the other. My comment was about the idea that you listen to the player and the player only, which was your point. My point is that players don't know what is actually best for them. They know what pain they have. They do not know long term ramifications for their injuries. So, you don't listen to the player only. You get all the information from the player, and the doctors/training staff. Then make a decision based on all input. Oh, and I didn't say anything about the Dolphins whatsoever. Tua said he was fine. Why else would he have been out there? Seems he wasn't. Players aren't always the best judges of their true condition. Most players have been trained that if they can walk, they will want to play. Sometimes, they need to be protected from themselves. I think Davis is fine to be back, I'm not worried. BUT... I don't think that the smart answer to any football injury situation is to listen only to the player.
